Masterlab,

Solar Tactical in Livermore makes their own Kydex and will be selling the MDR featurless. I plan on installing a Bullet Button of some sort right off.

The design looks extremely well-considered so if they can pull off the manufacturing, 2k seems totally reasonable.

Be careful if you pre-order then cancel.

From a member over on AR15.com.

"Pre ordered 2 MDRs when I got wind that they'd ship in June, then I heard that that was just an estimate and heard the horror stories of how long it took for some orders to ship. I'm not in to giving free $4k loans, so I reached out via their store contact email, looking for confirmation of Just be delivery, three times and no response. I called and got a salesman that stated that June was just an estimate. I cancelled the order since they couldn't confirm shipping dates and received a bill for $400 for a cancellation fee. How can anyone do business like this? I could see charging a fee if they took the top me to pull an order and get it ready to ship, but on a preorder there's no labor involved."

Thanks for the heads up.

I'm not sure if they're accepting pre-orders for CA anyways. Has anyone done so?

I pre-ordered one (not CA compliant) with a preferred dealer sometime around Q2 of 2015. They state there is still nothing concrete for getting one in my hands. The latest is the end of Q3 this year.

Sucks waiting, but at least I have other stuff to play with for now!

That sucks.

So if they can't deliver by end of this year you will have to go featureless (forever) to have it in CA, since you can't receive a BB'ed rifle after Jan 1st. Is that your plan or will you try to cancel and pay the 10% fee?

I looked into the MDR and wanted one but it's September and the company can't deliver to forget about it. If Hillary is elected it might be banned before it's released just like the LWRC SMG.

According to DTI they are shipping this month (I know, heard that before) and they are actively working on a CA Compliant version right now. The plan is to create a featureless MDR which will essentially eliminate the pistol grip but leave the rest of the remaining functions intact. Let's hope this happens!

I like their bolt gun a lot, but that thing...I'm not much of a fan of, from what I can see.

Good lord, with the barrel needed to meet the length requirement here that things atrocious! If I could SBR one, maybe. And even then, it'd be a strong maybe.

You're better off canceling your order. I think the MDR is a scam at this point. Cut your losses and move on.

It exists, hopefully to be shipped soon. As much as I wanted to pre order and be the first with one I'm glad I didn't because I can't afford to have that much money in limbo for as long as it has taken. I agree that DT has handled the release poorly, but it's not going to disappear.

Your Tesla 3 will arrive first

I would cancel my order for anything from Desert Tech either way. They are run by a polygamist cult, the Kingston Group. You can verify this on Wikipedia. also Desert Tech is located not even hundred yards from their church in Salt Lake, they own most of the property in that area. Here is a map of the location.

If you tell things like this I would make sure you got proof . . .
Telling 'things' is one thing but showing it on paper is another - and don't tell me that Wikipedia is 'the' source to get info . . . could have been you who posted that info . . .
I see people speculating about the connection of The Kingston Group / Desert Tech but that's all . . .
And actually should we care what other people do ?
Is it our business ?
If you don't like it . . . don't buy it !

Also . . . quite impressive for a first post on Calguns . . .

Military Arms channel first look at a production MDR

Except for the delivery timeline I could not be happier with how the MDR is looking

they need to lower the price, or i rather just get a tavor.

the only benefit is the capability to swap to 3 calibers compared to tavor's 2 (556 and 9mm)

Biggest benefit is 308 (which the tavor doesnt have yet) and ambidextrous bullpup operation. As a lefty that is huge, but their design also means no brass in the face when switching shoulders on the fly
