Default Contacted by NBC over Sheriff Smith, need to direct them to someone better suited tha

As the Title says, I was contacted by a producer of NBC Investigates about the Laurie Smith pay to play CCW controversy. I wrote a short, broad stroke response email, and now they want me to go on camera. I am not confident in doing this, nor do i think Im qualified, is there someone within the CalGuns organization i can hand this off too?

You can shoot me an email at darksoulracing@gmail or send me a PM, this just happened a few minutes ago, so i would like to hand this off asap.

Mercury News has a article recently posted regarding this issue.
Corruption, big donations to re-election of certain people by certain wealthy people who are granted rare CCW licenses...

warrants, searches...etc.

I hadn't heard about it until just now and I do hope there is someone here can help DarkSoul /the OP.

Because I'm the moderator for the DSC (Defensive Shooting Club) FB page, why they picked our club, i don't know, other than we are in the Bay Area.

About 7 or 8 years ago I was woken up by loud pounding on my trailers front door by her at 3:30 am.
She wanted to know why I was throwing rocks at the trailer next door, I asked her what the hell was she talking about. She said the junkie that lived there called and was afraid and couldn't get to sleep.
I told her it wasn't me. Then she warned me if I didn't stop she would return and arrest me. I told her not to worry as I don't do stuff like that. Then she left.
Awhile later I heard the acorns falling on my roof and realized why the stupid junkie had called the sheriff.
The park manager evicted that fool 2 days later
I felt like that bi!×ch Had me covicted in her mind
I had to laff when I heard the acorns fallin

Maybe you can deflect to John Hirokawa if he would go on record? He's not pro-CCW nor a calgunner afaik but he apparently responded to Facebook direct messages about Smith and her quid pro quo enrichment.

John Hirokawa answered:
...This is in total contrast to the current practice of Laurie Smith selecting who does or does not receive a CCW, usually based upon contributing to her campaign.

But better if an articulate calgunner could help.

If it is NBC I am sure they will spin the story their way and edit responses to fit their agenda. I will never do another TV interview again as that is exactly what they did with my interview, although the subject was not guns or 2nd amendment.

If you do end up going for the interview, ask for the questions in advance so you have time to articulate meaningful but short responses. Be prepared for gotcha questions.

I would like to read the article in link you posted but when I click and start to read a big blue "join" banner pops up. I try to close the pop up and get re directed to the bowels of The Mercury News...

I would graciously deny a interview.
"If you would interview me without twisting or only showing the segments that fit your narative, I'd be happy to do a interview." "If you were out to actually report the facts and the truth, we could sit down for a interview."

I got contacted by a newspaper or magazine (I can't remember which) that wanted an interview for an article. She was genuinely shocked when I said no. I guess she was used to people being anxious to get quoted or some such thing. When she asked why I said there was no upside for me and a very good chance that whatever I said would be twisted and there would be nothing I could do about it.

They contacted me yesterday too. I told them I don't talk to the media and that we're getting out of CA anyways! Hahaha!

Don’t talk to them unless you’re ready for creative editing that will have you appear to say what they want to push as their narrative.

There is simply no way that any smart, witty or persuasive argument you make will ever be aired unless it can be twisted into their narrative. Katie Couric was sued and sort of lost, yet the “interview” stayed whatever she edited it to be.

Media are not your friends and you’re naive if you think you’ll get anything close to fair shake. Do well and you’ll be cut out completely.

That's strange, I'm seeing some small banner ads at the bottom of the article ( that can be closed by hitting the little X in the corner) but I am able to read the full story without getting any kind of pay wall there and I'm not using any ad blocking software when I can do this.

Maybe if you went through Google like I had originally? Google the sheriff's name and scandal or Mercury News and the sheriff's name but make sure you look at the most recent stories because I think they give more names of the people that might be connected to the issue.

If the Mercury News is blocking you for whatever reason I'm sure other news agencies are writing articles about this.

And back on the thread topic... I know people might be reluctant to deal with reporters but there might be some upsides to your interview, if you mention your business, gun store, Law Firm that specializes in firearms you will be getting free publicity.

Because the person they might eventually find if they search elsewhere will probably be not as well spoken as some of the well-educated members we have here.

And I mean that seriously.
