There's currently a promotion on Amazon for Mountain House meals. $20 off $100. That really drives down the cost per meal. Don't forget to shop through Calguns.

I don't know about the lifspan of dynamo flashlights, and radios, but I found these at my local 99c store:

Dynamo crank 2-LED flashlights. Apparently these have a capacitor that charges via the squeeze-crank. I don't think these have anything but a coil, magnets, switch, capacitor, and 2 LED lights, but I don't know if an EMP/Solar-Flare, Etc. would kill a capacitor. I did read that similar products contain a lithium ion battery, but since the case is translucent, I cannot find it, and I did pop off the LED cap to readjust the LED that wasn't working...

This same flashlight (well it looks the same visually) seems to go typically for 2.99-18.99 (5.99 AVG...) from what I could find in researching info on how long of a light you get for how much cranking.

Quote:
Run Time 30 seconds press=15 minutes of light
60 seconds press=25 minutes of light
However another site that has the same product stated that 30 seconds of cranking give you 20 minutes of light.

I saw these and got 2, and will be buying more to put in the lady's car, my car, emergency supplies, and I'll probably give my daughter one for Christmas(, and a few spares in case they break, as she is not allowed any more batteries since she cannot turn her durned flashlight off [2 days, 2 sets of batteries]).

I had one that did not light-up one of the 2 LED's but after taking it apart and reassembling it works great too.

The light is sufficient for checking the back yard, and supplies more light (40% more?) than my stun-gun's single-LED.

Edit: Welp, it does look like it has a battery: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-LED-Dynamo...p2054897.l4275...but even if you get 300 charges, I think it is worth a dollar. I wonder if it could be adapted to charge a 18650.

Lifestraw on sale for $15 with free Prime shipping.

This is obviously not a replacement for a real filter. But a great addition to a GHB or to have one more option. I have a few of them and they are really light weight.

Before you buy 10,000 of them, make a note that they do have an expiration date or rather the company claims a 'shelf life of 5 years'. I'm not too sure if they would really 'expire' but it is there. (Someone might have more details on that...)

Oh and don't forget shop42A.com!

Good find but did anyone catch where it says "Does not filter chemicals, salt, viruses, heavy metals, taste." What does it filter; rocks?

Just sayin.

Maw-hahahaaa!
Nice, however it does appear to filter down to .2 microns, and that is one of the smaller particle filters, even in medical applications based on research I have done in even medical products I have access to at cost. (However some HEPA air filter can filter down to 0.003 microns [the smallest particles that exist?].) The ones that filter much better than that are pretty pricey.

The corona virus particles are about 0.080 to 0.160 micron, and I don't know if that is common here.

You COULD get one of these: http://www.pall.com/main/power-gener....page?id=55099 but at $159+$15.10 shipping (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pall-Ultipor...p2054897.l4275) , it may be cost prohibitive unless for nuclear applications?

You can get .1 micron, or even .02 micron filters, but at 1 gallon per hour the .02 micron's seem pretty slow if you are using a gravity-fed system...

Filters such as these are meant to filter bacteria, cysts, and similar parasites. Viruses are not a real problem in American mountain streams, though they could be in a SHTF scenario. Most inorganic pollutants do not make you sick right away, but only after repeated consumption.

I got me 2 of these battery boxes that fit 4)18650's each box, and they charge in the box for $7.67 ea:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/5V-Mobile-Po...item2eb6a3a2d0
I got sick of proprietary cables, and solar chargers that don't have a USB on the box itself... on a camping trip and forgot one of the cables.
If you use protected 18650s, they cannot overcharge like so most Lithium-Polymer batt-packs from China. Overcharge until the foil pouch swells and goes overvoltage, not a good thing.
I could leave one of these on USB, charging at work, or plugged into the USB cig-charger in the car, and it would only charge batts when they are not full.
Watch out for many USB chargable USB batt-packs (even solar/USB charging) that have to be unplugged after fully charged.

And 3ea of these single AA, or single AAA mini flashlights that has some booster to bring it up to 3v for the LED (rather than 3-AAA/AA lights) @ $1.50-$4 ea:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/110894965708....m1497.l2649#1
I wonder what the life of the battery will be?

Great deal for a dozen USA made reels you can throw in your BOB from Sportmans Guide. ($26.99)

12 Yo-Yo Auto Fishing Reels.

Set 'n' forget fishing! Angling just became easier. Simply set the depth of the 60-lb. test nylon line on the anti-rust plated Yo-Yo with your favorite hooked bait. Then tie-off the line to a tree, post, etc. When a hungry fish bites, a stainless steel spring automatically sets the hook and prevents the remaining line from unspooling.

Works hands-free when you are away. Simply reel your fish in on your return. Ideal for ice fishing, too. Check local laws for possible restrictions. A must-have for every survival / bug out bag. Each 2 1/2" diam., 4 ozs.

Nice find Heatwrench. The $26.99 is the "buyers club" price with $29.99 for non-members. Here is the link to the product page.

I used to be a member there a long time ago but did not renew. Their shipping policies regarding California is among some of the worst out there. FYI.

That being said if anyone would like to split a 12 pack, I am game to try these out. I will pay half the total price to get 6 to my door.

PM if interested.
Regards,
Mike

5.11 is good stuff - especially at clearance prices. I can vouch for the Tactical Fleece (AWESOME warm jacket at $32 or triple that price) and the Tacdry Rainshell (awesome light jacket - waterproof, great looking in Navy) price jumped but still a good deal (was $39 for the navy and $49 for the multicam), lots of great T-shirts and hats for $5.99. Shipped FREE.

Danner is having a big sale on boots.

http://www.danner.com

Use 'Extra20' to get an extra 20% off sale items.

The sale started today and goes through March 17th. If you're like me and have a very common shoe size I recommend going sooner rather than later.

I'm in no way connected to the company and the link above is not an affiliate link or anything like that but I will say that Danner is the only brand of boots I can wear comfortably with bad ankles (from surgery). I can wear my TFX platform boots and hike all day. I highly recommend them.

Plan and Prep: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

4.8 out of 5 stars

Quote:
Plan and Prep: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse is an introductory guide to emergency and disaster planning and preparation. Focusing on teaching the basic concepts of emergency and disaster preparedness the author utilizes amazing artwork and several short story-lines that follow the fictional Bill Jones and his family as they navigate their way through a series of emergency and disaster events, culminating in the outbreak of a Zombie Apocalypse.

Plan and Prep: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse walks the reader through basic planning and preparation techniques and attempts to answer most of the more basic questions before they are asked. Areas that are often overlooked by beginners are explored, and some of the more common misconceptions are discussed. Although not a "Survival Handbook", this guide will provide real world plan and prep ideas and solutions that anyone can add to their prepper toolkit.

The Seasons on Henry's Farm: A Year of Food and Life on a Sustainable Farm

4.9 out of 5 stars

Quote:
Henry's Farm is in central Illinois, some of the richest farming land in the world. There, Henry Brockman and his family — five generations of farmers, including sister Terra — farm in a way that produces healthy, nutritious food without despoiling the land. Terra Brockman tells their story in the form of a yearlong diary/memoir — with recipes — that takes readers through each season of life on the farm. Studded with vignettes, photographs, family stories, and illustrations of the farm's vivid plant life, the book is a one-of-a-kind treasure that will appeal to readers of Michael Pollan, E. B. White, Gretel Ehrlich, and Sandra Steingraber. The book opens a window into what sustainable farming really entails and why it is vital and relevant to everyone who eats. Though rooted in the rolling oak-hickory hills and fertile fields and flood plains of the Mackinaw River Valley, the book ranges widely, incorporating literary, scientific, and culinary reflections occasioned by the week-by-week events of farm life.

100 pack of Duracell AA batteries for 24 bucks after promo code VME10. there's a bunch of other battery packs you can use this code on. FYI these batteries expire in 2018/2019, so keep that in mind.

I like Dymatize Recoup, but this is so reasonably priced it is worth a try.

The Ready Store has canned butter and cheese on sale now. Very good prices if you compare to other vendors.

Real butter and cheese, I have used them both and there is no comparison to dehydrated varieties. Long shelf life.

Thanks for the tip. I was looking for some better powdered eggs. Just ordered some there to try!
