Here's the thing: you either need to use rechargeable batteries, or if you're using alkaline batteries, substitute 1 battery for a dummy battery. This brings the voltage of the AAA battery pack down to the same voltage as the Lithium battery pack, and transmit will work again. The problem isn't too little amperage, but rather too much voltage. Try it with a cheap radio shack battery holder and some tape first if you're skeptical...
