Fyi, I talked to the sheriff tonight and he said they have about 1,900 ccw's currently issued in Solano county. I have been curious what the number is for a bit now, and it is good to hear so many have been issued. Thanks Sheriff!

Does Solano now issue for SD=GC or do they still have a higher requirement?

Have you phoned Deputy Pinder to inquire as to why it is taking so long?

"As you folks have found out Kellie took an assignment elsewhere and Deputy Pinder is taking her work load on. The Sheriff is using extra help when possible and they are exploring solutions. I am not expecting any delay from the Sheriff's office as DOJ is still the giant slow part of the process. One of the instant solutions is the "Proceed to training" letters are now being emailed out. If you are in the 4 to 5 month window since live-scan then I recommend you check your email and spam box. There was a very large number of emails sent out this week and I would expect training providers to have some back log. I don't visit here often so If you have specific questions feel free to contact me through my web site www.brcarms.com For the fella who wants to add/change a firearm while in the application process. You can change/add a gun registered to you at any time before the permit is issued. What ends up on your permit is what you have qualified with. It can be a different firearm than what you have listed on your application. Stay Safe Dave " |

wait...
Kind of a dumb question --- but what would qualify as a GC, then? Can SD and the reason as to why you would need SD be a better GC then just merely writing down 'GC'?

Coming up on 4 months since livescan and haven't heard back. Is this time frame about right or should I call and check in? Thoughts?

I've been checking both inboxes with no luck. How long is the qualification certs good for? I may sign up and knocked it out beforehand.

Not sure but I think it would be safe for you to do that at this point. I know a few here have done that.

Paperwork error? GC? Something in your background?

I'm counting on the fact that it's still may be too soon to have heard back. I have no criminal record nor l.e. encounters. I have to maintain a clean record for work.

Bummer. I'm sorry. I was hoping you'd say some paperwork or GC that we could help you with. I hope Dave's able to help you through it.

No, it's not a dumb question. Believe it or not, there are places in the state where the phrase "Self Defense" or "Lawful Self Defense" is all one needs to put in the Good Cause box, nothing more. No explanations of shady neighborhoods or break ins or restraining orders or psycho Ex's, nothing about business or money or late nights. Just "Self Defense". I know, I live in one of them. In that light, my question makes perfect sense. In Solano, does one need to expand on the Good Cause statement with more details or can one simply write "Self Defense" and nothing else is required to meet the Good Cause requirement?

Someone w/a contact in the Solano CCW dept should pass along:
http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/cri...121987214.html Sacramento, San Bernardino, Fresno, Placer, and Monterey county SOs have now all gone online w/their CCW apps: initial and renewals. For Sac, this means only 1 apt for new apps and NO apts for renewals! Saves both sides time, expenses and effort.

CCW process
Hello my fellow armed citizens. Couple of quick up-dates.
1. Yes Solano is going electronic with the application process. I have not heard when they will turn the switch on but I believe it will be this year. 2. Live-Scan results, I'm gonna give you the answer you don't want. With the holiday season, Kelly taking a new assignment the processing of applications is taking a little longer. Right now 5 months is more the norm than the exception. Don't get concerned over how long the process is taking. Deputy Pinder is working on processing applications as fast as one man can. I noticed a big increase in renewals this month, so that will also effect how long the process is taking. 3. Denial letters, yes they happen but not often. Right now I know of just a couple who seem to have mistake of record information on their live-scan. My recommendation is when this happens get you own copy of your live-scan. Then when you see the LEA that has listed incorrect data contact that agency and get them to correct your live-scan data. A simple letter from that LEA stating as much will also assist Dep. Pinder during the readdress phase of the denial. If you have any other questions please email me direct or call. My contact information is listed on my web site. www.brcarms.com Dave |

I guess I should stop reading right here since, thanks to Sheriff Ahern's policy, I don't have GC....

I just hope they keep a backup system/process in place when the inevitable "teething problems" arise. Now, if you could just get the Solano sheriff to get Napa and Sonoma Co sheriffs to liberalize issuance.... (CoCoCo is probably "a bridge too far.") About a month ago, IIRC, a CCWer in FL saved a LEO's life and last week in AZ another CCWer saved another LEO's life (http://www.abc15.com/news/region-pho...-10-in-tonopah). (See the link in my sig line for those and other examples of CCWs saving lives.) Maybe that will help them "see the light." Quote:

I have my interview early next month and I just realized that my CAID has my parents address, where all my firearms and mail is registered to. I live in an apartment and didnt want to continually change my address on my ID along with everything else.
For proof of residency for my interview, i plan to bring two forms that show my CAID address. Should i bring two that show my address at my apartment or just completely forget about those? I dont want to get in there and not match and then get denied over something so stupid. |
