There are several differrent places. I won't completely trust any secondary source and won't recommend one since, I would hate to feel partially responsible if you relied on their information and it was outdated.

I generally refer to the Android app "CCW", "Concealed Carry Laws", as well as "LegalHeat"
Often one or the other will lag slightly, or sometimes misinterpret a law... sometimes assigning constitutional carry restrictions as a general restriction that may or may not apply to CCW holders.

So the apps are a good starting point, but always check the state web site for final confirmation.

As far as which standards apply, for example, my IA requires notification of LE on contact, and I have 3 listed handguns.
Of course, if I am in Florida, technically only my Florida permit applies since they don't recognize the CA or AZ permits, but if Florida does not require notification, I would still do so, because my IA does not stipulate that the requirement only applies in California.

In CA, I can legally carry all 3 of my listed guns, but NM only allows 1.

In Nevada, a CCW holder can drink, but can not be intoxicated.
Uhhh... no... That's not going to happen with a gun on my hip

Safe bet to stay out of trouble?
Know the laws of the state that you are in, and apply the more restrictive of the laws governing that state or the state that issued the permit that you are "using" to cover that state and/or your CA permit.

Very good thanks guys,

On that CCW app can you give me the makers name there seems to be a lot of them. Is the one your referencing by, Workman Consulting LLC?

I've been tempted to try carrying 3 at once, just one time, simply because I can... as a big silent middle finger to those who oppose my right to carry. Knowing my luck that would be the day I get pulled over.

"My issuing agency requires me to inform you that I have a license to carry and am currently armed"

"Ok, where is it?"

"Um, at me 3 o'clock. And my 9 o'clock. And, uh..... my 6 o'clock."

I've heard of someone caught kiestering a NAA mini revolver. Entirely possible if the 22 short version and hammer somewhat shaved down. I've carried 3 guns before but 3rd was a NAA mini. Not up my corn hole though.

I've got questions regarding the AZ CCW process.

On the two fingerprint sheets they send you, there is a box labeled "Employer and Address". Are they asking for my employer or the employer of the person who fingerprinted me? I ask because directly above that box, there is a box labeled "Signature of Official Taking Fingerprints". I am confused.

Also, there is a box labeled "YOUR NO. OCA" What is that?

I thought it was a little odd too, but I used my employer info. Don't recall the OCA, but I bilieve it's an identifying number of the fingerprint agency & they fill it in.

FWIW I dropped my application package to AZ DPS in the mailbox on 7/20. They issued/mailed on my CCW permit on 9/20. (Received via USPS 9/24). Used DD-214 (Prior military) for proof of safety training.

Thanks.

Yes, you were correct. I wrote in my place of employment.

I'll be putting the finishing touches on my application tonight and will mail it out tomorrow.

The process is so much easier with Arizona that it's borderline laughabe compared to California.

Indeed.
Complete what amounts to a 4473, submit prints and proof of training, get permit.
Florida was only slightly more tedious (photo and prints rolled by LE)

Will do, Thanks!

UPDATE: It was in the mailbox today.
Glad decided to wait one more day before contacting them.
That could have really screwed things up.

It's true and it's actually 32 states yes it that's easy. Why? Because the states that reciprocate are not communists like CA.

I just received my AZ CCW application packet in the mail.

I am not 100% sure what I should be writing down for the section below... I have a current valid CA CCW. So do I just write something to the effect of "License to Carry Concealed Pistol, Revolver, or Other Firearm Within the State of California Issued By SAC CO SHERIFF"?

On the application under the section: FIREARMS QUALIFICATION AND STATUTORY REVIEW AFFIDAVIT (ALL applicants MUST complete this section)

I attest that I have satisfactorily demonstrated competence with a firearm through completing a firearms safety course provided by:

(Print name of organization, governmental police agency, or branch of military)

Thanks guys... just don't want to mess this up and delay the process.

I forget what I put, but I believe I listed the name of the place where I took my CA CCW class, along with their NRA #. When I mailed the packet, I included my class certificate and a copy of my CA CCW, which was probably excessive, but I figured the more the merrier. I think the class certificate is enough.

I simply sent a copy of my Ca CCW, and put the name and address of where I completed training, however I am still waiting so no idea if that will be good enough for them.

I was told that is all that was needed.

Thanks for the quick response! My only problem is that the only training certificate(s) I have for getting my CA CCW was from several years ago when I first got my CA CCW. For some reason I cannot find my most recent renewal training certificate (4 hour legal update and requal)... I think SAC CO Sheriff kept them when I went in turn in my paperwork and I didn't make copies (I can't remember). I'm just making photo copies of my CA CCW, copies of my older training certs and just writing the name of the organization that I took the training course from and hope that will be fine, without including the training certificate copy). Fingers crossed.

There's no requirement about when the training happened, just THAT it happened. A 4-year old certificate from your original class should be fine. At any rate, as others mentioned, a copy of your CA CCW should be fine by itself - AZ is aware of CA's training requirements for getting a CCW here, and knows that if you have a CA CCW, you had to have passed an NRA course. It's easy to forget, after living in CA for so long, that there are still some states in the Union that are capable of logic and reason

Took an approved pistol course, got printed, and sent paperwork with money order through the mail. Tracking shows signed and delivered last Wednesday.

Now to play the waiting game.

Ouch on the fingerprint cards, but congrats on mailing it in. I mentioned before that I did my prints myself, ordered a $28 thermal-impregnated fingerprint pad from Amazon and rolled them myself in my kitchen, and AZ was ok with that. In hindsight, it would have been easier to pay someone else to do it, but for anyone on a budget, that tip might be useful. I just signed my own name as the fingerprint taker. If you plan on doing multiple states, the savings of doing it yourself could add up. But you don't really realize how hard it is to roll your own prints til you try it

Food for thought or I am just thinking out loud.

I received mine on 5/10/2013 and did no training or online classes, etc. I was sent paperwork, filled it out and submitted it with fingerprints and a money order.

I believe I will have to comply with all new standards come my renewal in 2018. Yes, its valid for 5 years.

Or, is mine invalid now since the creation of new requirements?

In hindsight, it would have been easier to pay someone else to do it, but for anyone on a budget, that tip might be useful. I just signed my own name as the fingerprint taker. If you plan on doing multiple states, the savings of doing it yourself could add up. But you don't really realize how hard it is to roll your own prints til you try it
AZ might be OK with it but, CA isn't. It is illegal for anyone to roll prints in CA unless they are certified to do so. Government employees are able to roll prints in an official capacity without being certified but, they can't roll prints on the side (like a LEA doing free fingerprinting for kids at his/her church) without getting a cert.

You had to have provided some sort of proof of training. A hunter's safety course, DD214, any class taught by a NRA instructor, POST instructor, etc. is all you need.

I charge $25 for two cards because, I want to promote CCWs instead of make a fortune.

$25 each? Where did you do it at? That's insane!!!! The majority of the places I called wanted $25 each, but if you told them you need two, they'll do it at a "discounted" price of $30. I gave the Sheriff's office and was surprised it was $20 for 2. I did it in Fresno County. There are a few other posters who said they did it also at the Sheriff's in a different county for the same price.
