Default Would you buy this???Marlin model 60

A coworker of mine is wanting to trade me a Marlin Model 60 that has a gold trigger and a little squirrel engraved on the stock. He says it holds 18 rounds comes with a 3x original scope. It doesn't have any rust and looks like it has very little use. He wants one of my Powell bass fishing rods(which I value at $70) and $50 cash. What you guys think? Sorry no pics.

Sure, seems like a good deal especially considering .22s are hard to find these days. I have a glenfield version of the same gun with the squirrel on the stock, very accurate and fun to shoot.

Trade it now before he changes his mind. Also Se if he has any 22 ammo to throw into the trade its a plus for you if he does.

Same - they are very accurate. And the squirrel is pretty cool. I believe mine holds 17, but it's probably the same gun. Glenfield is a Marlin rebranded and sold under Montgomery Wards or KMart...

The Marlin Model 60 is one of the most popular .22 rifles ever made.

Scoop it up!

I've got one of those. If it's as you describe you'll be getting great .22 rifle. You can put a better scope on later when ready.
Congrats!

What are you waiting for? Do the trade ASAP. Good deal. Make sure there is no rust.

I already have a 60, and I would do that deal. I wouldn't flip it either, 60s are great guns.

I have a 60 that's almost 40 years old and would buy this because
of the squirrel on the stock! -g

See the 795 threads. Model 60 is a tube fed 795.

GET IT.

If you don't want it you will find a buyer here for $80 and make them very happy.

A 795 is a magazine fed Model 60, just for the record.

Agreed, I just phrased it that way because the 795 threads have a ton of good info, but yes, correctly the 795 is a magazine adapted model 60

I was thinking about it for a while but I'm going to jump on it. The rod he wants is for a technique called punching, which I only do a couple times a year and hate doing. I will post some pics ASAP. Thanks Calguns.

Talking

Umm, Barska. I know I'll get a lot of hate, but it works REALLY well. I have the same scope on my Saiga. 3-9x and the cross hairs and optics really are nice.

Go to RIMFIRECENTRAL and say the word Barska and pretty soon, you'll be the loser for not spending $1000 on a Leupold for your 22LR.

So, 18 shot 60s are the snitch - especially ones in great condition! New ones have only a 14 shot capacity and the quality is though to have degraded some. Get it now even if you have to buy him a new fishing rod....

Some folks are beginning to consider these collectors items....

I have an 18 shot, but not the squirrel stock.
