Meh, I don't like it.
The chrome spray paint looks really cheesey so I'm going to have it nickel plated when I get the chance.

I thought your job had to do with Mosin's.

The only halfway-decent "chrome" paint I've ever seen is made by a company called Alsa. They have a pro-grade "MirraChrome" and a cheaper, spray-can version called "Killer Chrome". You have to start off by painting your item black and getting it as smooth and shiny as possible, then ever-so-lightly dust the silver onto it (and I mean LIGHTLY, like the thinnest breath of dust across the surface). It makes a decently reflective surface, but I've noticed it doesn't last very long. After a while, it dulls a bit.
Here's a prop sword I made years back that uses Killer Chrome. It's all metal and fiberglass, but I just didn't know much about metal polishing at the time and didn't feel like sanding and polishing for a month just for something I was going to hang on the wall, so I painted it.

Here you can see the reflection of the writing on the bag in the knuckle guard...

Something to think about maybe, if you're just looking to make a wall-hanger.

I remember reading your blog post about this years ago! As I remember, you saw it in a dream before you made it.

Oh cool, you knew about my stuff before CG?
Yup that's the one. Saw it in a dream, woke up, built it.

We'll see if she even reads her own thread anymore. My wife doesn't look over my shoulder. She just sees me on the interweb and instantly assumes I'm on Calguns.

Didn't give up.
Waiting for income tax return and then sending it to get nickle plated.
Made some goof ups in the painting so I need to scrape some of the paint off and get restarted. The lacquer finish is beautiful.
