The reason to find out would be, so that others don't have to go through what some of have had to. Obviously someone somewhere isn't doing there job up to par.

Reason? They are so busy, veryyyyy busy. And for those worker, they think they're doing their job so hard so you can have your permit as fast as possible.

Are they using Express Mail to mail the CCWs? Mine might have come in today. I have to go to the post office to retrieve an Express mail item.

Ok. I looked at the notice again and I can see where the checkmark looks like it might be for Express Mail. The mark is closer (but barely under) to the EM line instead of the Certified mail line.
Now I have to wait till 9 AM.

It will send via certified mail . Amber will mention it after you sign the permit and thumb print it.

I went through the whole process. I did email Amber at the begining and talked with her on the phone a couple of times. Never saw her at my app drop-off nor at the final paperwork signing phase.

I'm not sure exactly what they're doing, but it seems as if they ship the permits in batches on Fridays. It took 13 days for mine to come. When I was waiting for my permit Amber told me basically to just wait because she hasn't lost any permits yet.

My wife did her LiveScan on 1/24 and got her letter from Amber on Wednesday 2/2. It was postmarked on 2/1. Her appointment is on 2/22 and the joke between us is she might have hers before I get mine. |

my Sacramento County CCW process
I turned in my application on Dec 1 2010. I showed up 2 hours early but they took me right in. I then scheduled my 16hr class http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...99#post5776999
for Dec 18 and 19. I received my first Sac county approval letter when i got home from the 1st day of class Dec 18. then on Dec 20 I went in for my Livescan. The Feds replied on Dec 24 but the state didnt reply until Jan 11. I received the second Sac county approval letter Jan 20. I scheduled my final appointment for the next available date of Feb 1. Again, I showed up early and they took me right in. I paid my $80 and put my thumb print on the permit and left. Then much to my surprised i got certified mail 4 days later Feb 5 with my long awaited permit. WOOHOO! (67 days from app drop off to permit in hand) But one of the weapons has a typo on the serial #. Amber Wong with Sac county Sheriff said sorry but......If i want it fixed i need to schedule an appointment and pay a $10 correction fee. Even though it was not my fault. She also said that it doesnt matter and wont be a problem.....but that a topic for a different thread. Last edited by Troygen; 02-11-2011 at 9:52 AM.. |

Turned in app and had interview 12/16/10
Received approval 1/19/11 Live Scan done 1/19/11 Received Live Scan clearance letter 1/31/11 Appointment for final paperwork 2/8/11 Signed my permit yesterday, thumbed it, wrote a check, turned in my training documents and that was it. Whole thing took less than 5 min. Amber said the permit would get to me by mid next week. Looking like my permit will be here before my CB Supertuck. Any ideas on a temporary holster? |

Prohibited person?
Does having a DUI on your recored make you a prohibited person in Sac County? I don't have one but was looking to take the CCW classes with my son and he does have one.

A DUI conviction is very questionable.

It might depend how long ago the DUI occurred, but if it's your son I'm guessing he can't be that old and it can't be like 10 or 15 years ago. He can still take the CCW class with you. It will be fun and educational. He may just have to wait awhile- and continue to avoid drinking and driving- to get a CCW.

He needs to be VERY contrite in the interview. If he can sell the idea that he's learned his lesson then he may slip through.

You know it's only $20 to try. He can get his appointment, pay his $20, and he'll soon find out. I agree with Kid Stanislaus, he's going to have to convince them of his profound contrition. Good luck.

They're taking in 36-40 per week (new applications). That's about 2,000 applications per year. Since the SSD is maxing out the cost of the license ($100) that potentially is $200,000 just in license fees alone. Add in another $57,000 in rolling fees that they'll collect... and that funds about 2.5 Deputies per year for Salaries and Benefits, if no expenses are taken out of that amount. That amount could theoretically pay for 3-5 office staff, as their salaries are generally lower...

Dam, SEE that math thiing again. I forgot 18 X 2 days. oops.... still not alot of money. after you take away the cost of the offce staff and the officer doing the interveiw. before the sheriff dept. had the cuts, there were only two officers and one chp from I 80 madison to the county line and to I 5.
I was told this from a chp officer after it took an hour for someone to show up to my home at 4:00 am after it was broken into. |
