Default Looking for USPSA/IPSC Cardboard Targets

I just started competing and I'm looking for full size targets. I looked online, but shipping kills. I live in Temecula.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You might try asking the match director if you can have the used targets after a match. They're usually in good enough shape to use for practice.

Or take a drive up to Alco Target in Duarte.

They have cheaper paper targets that you can use with old cardboard targets.

I don’t compete, but I just trace new targets out of used cardboard I find and cut them out if I really feel the need. Maybe that would be worth your time?

Alco is a good place to get targets for sure. But Cam is right - talk to the MD of your local club. They usually throw away targets at the end of a match, but the No Shoot targets usually have very few holes and make great practice targets.

These would be my 2 suggestions. I usually grab the least shot up used targets after the match and when I run out of those, just use the paper with random cardboard behind it.

I don't like the "just trace it on regular cardboard" idea only because you then lose the scoring zones.

I buy from Atco and usually but a hundred at a time with shipping it normally works out to less than a dollar a target. Last time I got 5 rolls a of tape too. The way I see it I use 3 to 5 targets a range session, so it cost me 3 to 5 dollars, just not a big deal. I tape them up at the range and throw them away after, I never reuse.

i picked up paper versions of the USPSA/IPSC targets. bought them from brownells when they had the $10 off $50 coupon + free ship.

cheaper and much more compact to store. sure i have to put up a cardboard backing when i'm at the range, but i can easily get free large sheets of cardboard from local retail stores.

the only thing i haven't found a cheaper alternative to is the tape. hard to find the specific tan color tape in the typical size that you use for matches.

For the tape, get it from Alco or order from MGM.

Thanks for the offer.

I had business up in Burbank, so I stopped by AlcoTargets on the way.

Thanks to all those who referred me to Alco. You guys are right. The tape does match better than regular masking tape.

I think I'm gonna stock up next time Midway has free shipping.

Shipping would be $18 to Chino for a bundle of 50... can't imagine it would be more to Temecula.
Unfortunately, the shipping doesn't get cheaper with quantity... it's $70 for 200 targets.

Cheaper to drive there and pick them up.
They're just off the 210 under the 605 interchange.

^^^ This.

Compare to the cost of ammo and other supplies. Also, even if you get one of the alternatives, factor in the cost of the targets AND the time and effort it takes to put them together. Unless you have access to a lot of free cardboard, it's likely cheaper to get the actual targets.

If you're competing at Pala, talk to Jim the MD and ask him if you can have some of the old USPSA targets after a match. I'm sure he will give them to you free of charge.
