call me an evil hoarder if you like but oh well. i have been gathering up ammo for over 2 years now and i have a very good stash compared to alot but not compared to all. and yes im retired and ya know what... good for me,lol. i did the 6 am walmart thing at least 5 days a week for 18 months but have slowed way down now. that being said i havent found any 22 ammo over 100 rounders since may. i know bulk has only came in 3 times here till last sunday. ididnt go to walmart and one of our 2 wallys got in one case/2 boxes of 1000 round m22. the 2 guys split it. now please explain to me how them waiting at 7 am kept anyone else from getting 22? it just isnt coming to stores like it used to. when the first guys to walmart get the 22 when it does come in there still isnt that much 22 coming in. next i guess some of you guys are gonna say we should be limited to how much 22 we can buy in a week etc. kinda sounds like the governemet , doesnt it? as ive said in the past, try befriending some of us walmart crazies and you may just get 22 at the exact same price we pay for it.

My Local Walmart has been out for two days now. Goes a week or two between dry spells sometimes.

I can see some guys hanging out at Walmart in the a.m. for social reasons. I just laugh my *** off at ANYONE that would spend hours sitting at a Walmart with a genuine need/want for .22lr. A person could spend an hour or two right here on good ol' Calguns and figure out how to get an almost unlimited trickle of .22lr right from their computer.

Since the start of the year, I've accumulated about 50k of good quality plinking ammo (NOT golden bullets and white box B.S.) for .04-.06/round. I have (4) 40mm ammo cans and a few .50cal cans filled solid, so I've lost track. I have 7500 mini-mags on b/o at Cabellas and 5000 mini-mags on b/o at Midway...those WILL eventually get filled. Literally a couple days ago I was screwing with my month's old Cabella's wish list and AR-Tactical, CCI standard, Winchester X, and Winchester Wildcats were all available. 1600 quality rounds for .0625/round delivered.

So the flippers that are doubling up, but wasting hours of time and gas are SCRUBS. The people buying from these guys are SCRUBS. The people complaining about it are SCRUBS. Get your weight up, log onto this God-given gift called the internet, and instead of working for $3/hour flipping WallyWorld .22 or crying and moaning about this horrible shortage, actually do something about it.

My Walmart stocks ammo at 9:00 AM when it comes in. No need to go at 5:00AM. I do not know if other stores use that same policy but mine does.

I just dros'd my first .22 ever so I can share this wondrous sport with my wife and kids. The only thing is, I can't seem to get any ammo. I am not around a computer enough during day to find places that have ammo in stock. It's actually more difficult than I thought it would be. I work long hours and have 2 small kids so finding time outside of work is difficult too. I wouldn't mind paying a little more for it than normal just so I can have some ready when I pick up my 22/45.

Anyone have any suggestions for the Antelope Valley/Santa Clarita area?

I don't have time to go by Walmart all the time and the 2 in Palmdale don't even answer the stinkin phone. It just keeps ringing.

Would someone mind posting a pic of what 50k rounds of ammo looks like? I just can't picture it and I'd like to see how much space that much ammo takes up.

Thanks.

I got 22 LR the other day just 3 boxes of 50. The clerk at walmart pointed out that I was a shooter. Others who only want 550 mega packs never shoot it.

The flippers will not buy individual boxes.

I drive by every morning 5 times a week and see the same jokers standing outside on random days. Was shopping for hobby supplies and thought I would snap a pick.

PS. I only have one 22lr I never shot, I bought it for my son to practice with when he is old enough in a few years.

Its been like this for some time now. I stopped by at 5 a.m. once to purchase some supplies for work (couldn't go any later, since my shift started at 7). 4 guys were standing in line waiting for the SHIPMENT to come in...not the ammo, but the shipment. They weren't even sure if ammo would be coming in or not. Picked up a box of 12ga while I was there, smiled, and asked them why they weren't in bed at this hour. They didn't take my question too kindly.

As they should be hassled about it, someone who needed for their kids probably would've said so.

Honestly, they look like your average shooter at the range.

You could argue that it is not really the free market when these flippers are artificially interrupting the normal supply of .22 ammo to the local market where it was intended to be consumed, and are selling it elsewhere.

They are actually depriving the market in a way that is unproductive to everyone but themselves. They do absolutely nothing to contribute to our Capitalist society whatsoever. They are only driven by personal greed. No one but themselves are gaining from this practice. They are actually harming the free market. I am not for taxes so much, but hell they are not even paying taxes on the resale of the ammo they "redistribute"

They are not Capitalists in my opinion. They are a big part of what is wrong throughout this Country, in a broader sense.

This may not be the best analogy, but can you imagine if some guy started buying up all the Milk across town in the morning and started selling it for 9.00 a gallon everyday on the corner? You would outraged if you liked milk That would not be the free market would it?

i dont think my local wm carries any 22lr anymore. haven't seen it on brassbadger for some time. not surprised if they stopped ordering 22lr since alot of ppl kept complaining (the same group of ppl that sits there at 3am in the morning w/ lawn chairs from the patio dept) about the employees hiding the ammo for friends/relatives.

I just recently got into the wonderful world of 22's so I have no experience with buying 22 ammo or it's difficulties.

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time any of you folks actually saw .22 ammo at Walmart?

When was the last time period that .22 ammo was readily available and do you fine folks think it will ever get back to being readily available?

About 4 days ago since I seen any at Walmart. Readily available has been about three years.

Yes there will be a surplus of it again, someday everyone's basements will be full, and the flippers will no longer see a profit margin that is of any large amount for their effort.

A change in the white house in a couple years if it goes right, will also help tremendously. You may even see things get better as soon as the midterms are over this fall.

Thank you very much. I will most definitely take you up on your offer. PM on its way.

There have a few mighty fine folks contact me and offer up some of their own ammo. This goes to show you what a great community Calguns is. There are probably a few people on here that try to profit in these situations, but the vast majority of people on here are very selfless.

Kudos Calgunners!

Last time I bought/saw any was before Sandy Hook. After that, it was gone.

One morning I happened to be in WalMart with the wife around the time they stock the ammo shelf. So I checked it out. I got in line because they had some AE 223. There were only two guys ahead of me. One was from Texas and the other was from Colorado.

Atwater and Turlock both had Win M22 1000 round packs today. Shows Los Banos and Ceres for tomorrow morning. Only two boxes per case, so you would have to be at the head of the line to get any. Depends on how many cases they get, but, usually only one or two.

Calguns should stop allowing the sale of .22 lr in the Private Ammo sales forum, period(at least until the shortage is over). That would put a dent in the flipper BS no doubt, which is getting really old now almost two years into this thing.

My Walmart had 20 bulk packs today. 10 Remington 525s and 10 550 Federals.

Got one Federal for me and one for my buddy. Would have only got one but my Buddys Wife happened to walk by, so I had her grab him one quick and he could pay me later. There was only 4 people in line. It may even last through the whole day maybe

No one was buying the Remington, but they will when the good Federals are gone.

My wife shoots .22 alot, so after work I may send her to get one too.

You will only stop the flippers when they no longer have a captive audience. Stop buying from them and they will disappear shortly. No need to sensor them, just stop buying from them. Period

I haven't seen .22 in a Walmart since early 2009.
Talk to Mr. 30,000 rounds-from-Walmart-in-the-last-six-months guy. He posted somewhere on the first page.

I shoot more than just .22LR; I don't think I could go through 30,000 rounds of 22LR in six months if I tried...

Period
I like how you say "my" Walmart and not a location.... LoL

And your right, stop buying from flippers and they will go away.

My location would not do you guys out there alot of good. I used to live in CA for about 5 years but am back in Nebraska now.

I use ammocan.net and brassbadger to find when my store has it in. Using both those sights in conjunction with eachother will help you find Walmart ammo. Downside is it also helps the lowly flippers too..GOODLUCK beating them to the front of line.

Very true. I just got email from cabellas on a backorder from November. My 333 winchester in a wooden box is on its way....16$ free shipping. If I'm at my local WM, I stroll thru ammo I don'thunt for it. My store(mckinley in corona) stock their ammo around 6 at night. Store is also 24 hours so after 10pm you need to grab a manager....I've had to do it, they hate it
