Default What is your job going to be Post-SHTF and why are you qualified for it?

The event occurred. You survived and the population has been thinned. What is your new job going to be during the recovery/rest of your life? What can you do so well post-event that you can earn food, shelter, protection, etc. from the community? What makes you qualified for it above the average Joe?

I've studied heavily the methods of Aunty Entity and The Immortan.
It's all planned out, I just need the world to fall.

Added a second question; why are you qualified to do the job(s) you specified.

Would be a pretty decent medic. Could scratch around and get enough to eat until something came along and killed me. If I am being brutally honest, I do not want to survive an end of the world scenario. I prep so I can live out natural disasters until the world rights itself.

Most of you will just be cannon fodder, if not that then dying of thirst or starvation. Sad but it is what you are qualified to do.

Your wife and children are doomed to the same fate.

You have no skills or training and very little preparations.

I hope and pray that things never go that far south, Things will get out of hand real quick.

I'm pretty much a jack of all trades, but I have specific skills as a fighter/gaurd/soldier (some civilian experience, 10 year Marine), blacksmith (about 6 years as an amateur colonial style blacksmith), and communicator (work experience in RF & General Class HAM for about 5 years).

I'm good with a firearm and have used both pistols and long guns in action, I can grow food, can food, dehydrate food, fix most mechanical issues, build things, hunt, know basic survival medicine, and basic survival knowledge.

I don't really plan on working a job, I plan on using my skills to survive along with a very small group that is already established and hopefully will grow a little over time; but it is nice to know I have a couple of backup professions just in case.

If you have read the book World War Z, there is story about this topic.
IIRC, 60% of the survivors had no useful skills for a post apocalypse world.
There was high demand for people with practical skills such as machinist, gunsmith, electrician, engineers, mechanics, metal workers, medical, construction and chemists.
If you have skills, you will be welcomed and you will be busy.
Maybe busy teaching others.
