A friend I trust told me a story that happened at least fifteen-twenty years ago. He was taking a photography class and was assigned to take photos of people/children that were candid.

He had a pass to d land, so he went there. He found a character interacting with the crowd and started snapping photos.

Someone tapped him on the shoulder almost instantly, and with a smile asked which child was his. When he said none of them, he was led away by his arms and told not to photograph any children.

He moved to another area of the park, and made ready to photograph other kids, but before he could snap one photo, there was a large male at each elbow, they led him to the gate, exposed the film, and told him he'd be arrested if he tried to re enter the park.

Yes, I realize there is a tunnel system under Magic Kingdom in Florida. However I refuse to believe the are tunnels under Disneyland unless you have hard evidence to support it.

One of my best friends used to work there. He said there is a maze of tunnels at Disneyland. Not all cast members have access, which is very restricted.

There is also a half court basketball court inside the Matterhorn.

You can see the court if you look up going up the main incline.

Interesting. I'll have to check it next time I go. I'll try to get a photograph.

I don't have any hard evidence, but I used to go though the tunnels with my dad at least once a year when I was a kid. He drove a milk delivery truck for Carnation. He'd take me on 'bring you're child to work day' or some such.

There is a tunnel system under California High School in Whittier, including a bunker the size of the gymnasium UNDER the gymnasium.

Pretty much any school or major facility built in the 50s has this.

We used to call them "Bomb shelters"

Every classroom pair had an entrance to the tunnels in the teacher's closet (shared by 2 classrooms).
The bunker under the gym, at one time, stocked rations.

Honestly, I would be surprised if Disney Anaheim did NOT have a tunnel and warehouse system under the park.

There's a huge tunnel system between the major city/county buildings in downtown LA. We used to use them to sneak celebrities out of the courthouses without being noticed.

Great fun.

I've been to the ATSAC center many times.
It's about 6 floors down.
Walking through all of the doors in all of the hallways I feel like I'm in the opening credits of Get Smart.

I have to chime in on this. Disneyland actually let's off duty LEO's carry.. my buddy has his pass and had never had an issue. He also said that they have a connection between Anaheim, Santa Ana and a couple other pd's that officers actually get paid to go and be on duty in plain clothes at Dland!

Unless DL changed their policy since last October, off duty LE cannot carry firearms inside the park (I'm refering to those visiting not working an off duty gig for DL).

Just went today. Lots more detectors. I was screened (pretty much everyone was, which is great, btw). Had my g42 in my pocket, so notified the security person. They brought me in the back and assigned me a locker where I stowed my firearm. There's a total of 30 lockers and I used the only one.

Update: on pickup, I noticed one of the other lockers was in use, leaving 28 empties.

I last went in March and was "selected" all three days I went to the park. I'm sure it had nothing to due with my high and tight haircut and Oakleys.lol I did not carry those days, but I usually use the lockers and it seems the only times they get used is on the weekends.

My Father is an Architect who did the Space Mountain rides at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom. There are Tunnels and secret passages EVERYWHERE. My Former neighbor Gary Goddard of Landmark Entertainment also was a WED employee and can confirm many underground passage ways at both parks.

There ARE tunnels all throughout Disneyland. Before 9/11 you could approach any security officer, show them your credentials and ask for a tour. They would do it for both Police & Fire personnel. I've been on it twice. Since 9/11 most things there have changed, no more tours, all kinds of crazy security measures and video systems. As for ME? I don't carry n the park. It is the LAST place on mother earth I'd want to have a stray round hit someone else. Period.

I told several officers at work about the new D-Land policy and almost all of them stated they would never go to D-Land again. I'm still undecided about the whole thing, although if I can keep my gun in a locker and have it returned to me by the time I have to walk through Downtown Disney, I might be more open to the idea.

I went to Knott's Berry Farm twice in the last couple of weeks and only one of the visits were security guards using the wand device. I showed them my credentials and they stated "no problem." The security guard told me if I was going on any roller coasters to store my gun in a locker.

If you're that scared to go to Disneyland without a gun, then by all means- stay home. Less crowds means shorter lines for me anyway

2nd!

I'll be there next week for training. I might not even bring my gun so I don't have to check my bag! Hahah. However, I do want to buy a new baton, so I may end up bringing my gun. Still undecided.

I don't think it's a matter of being "scared." I think it's a matter of being prepared. Sadly, I'm afraid that one day mouse land will be hit by a terrorist act of some sort.

LAX and Dland have been the #1 west coast targets on the "wish list" of terrorists for a while now.

Disneyland employees love confiscating peoples stuff, not just weapons. They do not offer lockers to visitors if they want to keep your items.

I'll suggest that the employees are forbidden by policy from keeping anything they deny entry.

I work in a similar summer job, on a much smaller scale. That's our policy, in large part to refute such accusations.

Is that policy perfectly obeyed and enforced? Probably not. But it's an expectation, a management goal, and failure to follow policy can get one fired.

Still love that place, buddy world's there so we get in free. Like I said in another thread of I didn't go as a child I probably wouldn't go today. I just know to leave knives and firearms at home, wouldn't feel safe leaving them in my vehicle.

We were on Pirates one time and it broke down. They took us off the boats and led us out through the tunnels. They also passed out go to the front of the line tickets. Also while our daughter worked there we took her some food for a pot luck they were having in the Matterhorn. Saw the basketball court and wanted to steal the "This ride requires an E ticket" sign they had on the wall.

Disney in CA most definitely has an underground area. Very big in size. Used for access, storage, and work centers. Yes work centers. All those signs you see all over the park? Most are made in the Disney sign shop which is underground.

I have never seen staff take things away from people. They tell them they can't have it and to take it back to the car. Glass bottles and stuff, they tell them to take it back or dump it. Never seen them take it unless the person didn't care and let them have it.

Went to a game two weeks ago and they were doing bag checks and selective wanding. I have been selected on previous occasions, so i don't bother carrying there. I hate having to walk all the way back to the car to secure my piece. Its to crowded there to wand everyone. They will need to hire a lot more personnel to wand the amount of people that come in to the park in that 1 hour rush period.

We have passes for DL and were there this past Thursday (5/26/16). One thing I noticed is fewer kennels for dogs than just a few months ago. I have never been asked to go through a metal detector. Thursday I was wearing a windbreaker that could have easily covered a weapon. Walk right on through, though my wife's purse was searched quite well. My son, an adult with 2 kids, entered the park about 15 minutes prior to me and was selected for the metal detector. His dress was jeans and a Disney t-shirt.

I have performed numerous times at DL and I can tell you that the security from the back side is quite extensive. Adults must submit full names and DL #'s in advance and then show them upon entering. At one time we were subjected to having all instrument cases opened and inspected.

As a former school teacher I accompanied some groups to DL for graduation parties and unfortunately on 2 occasions had to be called to security to "bail out" some kids who got caught shoplifting. Believe me, they have all sorts of people working security. That 50-something guy with mouse ears, shorts, dark socks and tennis shoes may be security.

Anybody know if I can carry my little Swiss Army Knife into Disneyland?

Edit: Just found this: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq...rmitted-items/

Included in their list of prohibited items:

- Weapons of any kind or object that appear to be weapons (toy guns, toy blasters, squirt guns, etc.)
- Self-defense equipment (e.g., pepper spray, mace, stun guns)

I was planning on leaving my weapon knives and self-defense sprays at home, but a SAK is not a weapon. But I suppose they won't see it that way...

Went to DL on Wednesday. I was not selected for additional screening but they pulled half the males entering for wanding. I was expecting to get pulled but was not selected.

Went their a few weeks ago. Locked up my CCW in the car beforehand, but wife had a knife in the side of the backpack from when we went to the beach day before. She walked right in with it. Both of us not waned. Bag was searched, but guess did not see the knife. Had metal detectors on the ends.

After 9/11 many Temporary Flight Restricted areas were placed around the country. Today, 15 years later, the only TFR that still exists is the airspace above and around Disneyland.

This is why you don't see the banner towing planes around Anahiem stadium.. too close to Disneyland. Basically a ground to 3000 feet and 3 mile wide circle around the park is no-go for flying. Of course there are police, fire, medic, airline, exceptions.

I remember the days of banner towing planes over Disneyland.

I have a family member who is a DL employee and we get in for free, one of the perks. If you think those metal detectors help make a soft target hard forget it. At most it's for show. There are so many easy access points to DL they all can't be covered. By the time they react you will have a very large cluster. Firearms have breached their metal detectors both at DL and Angels stadium, same company was running the security. Unless they are going to pat everyone down the walk through and the wand are easy to get through with a weapon. The only people who will obey the detector are the honest ones who are not there to do any harm.

As for the tunnels they are there but not what everyone thinks. There is a large vehicle tunnel for emergency vehicles. Other ped passages ways but these are mostly for acces to park attractions for maintnece. And yes there is a basketball "court" at the Matterhorn but not under it.

They tried to take my spyderco once. A castmember spotted the clip on my pants pocket. They would not even allow me to put it in a locker. I had to go all the way back to the car and leave it there or relenquish the knife. Went to the car steaming.
