bruss01- I'm guessing since your bedside gun is a 590, you don't have kids? I used to keep a loaded handgun on top of my nightstand, but once my first child was born, I bought a GunVault. It would be pretty awesome if they made a GunVault quick access type mini-safe for shotguns & AR's.
Ok, sorry for pic quality, just coming off being sick for 4 days straight and this is all I have the energy for...

Some better close-ups of the shottie:

If anyone's interested. The side-saddle is a Mesa Tactical 6- rounder and the light is a Surefire with a red flip-lens. Can't remember the light mount, I think it's a Mesa Tac too. I love that shotgun. It has shot numerous skeet doubles with me over the years, and we had a blast twice now at LMS Defense Combat Shotgun clinic (full day class). It has yet to let me down when I do my bit. It was the first gun I ever bought and it'll likely be the last gun I'll ever part with.

Mossbergs are always full of win.

Not sure if you keep your shotty leaned up against the wall like that, if so, I'd suggest some gun magnets so it would never fall over (like in an earthquake), you don't need to dent you nice shotgun if you don't need to.

Quick Draw Gun Magnets

Thanks, I'm sure someone can use that advice. We haven't had any tremors in Sacrameto in the 8 years we've been here... and I don't expect any soon. Nice thing about this corner location is it's out of the way there and really unlikely to get bumped or jostled.

The least expensive pistol that's both safe and reliable. Hope I never have to use it, but if I do, I don't care if I get it back or not...

not a fan of keeping the light on the firearm. to shine the light on something you have to flag it with your muzzle. i prefer to keep my light separate. "don't point your gun at anything you don't intend to shoot" etc.

With a decent weapon mounted light, you don't have to point your gun at someone's face to identify them. I can point mine at the floor 6ft in front of me, and it will light up the entire room. I like having the option of one hand being free to open doors, move objects, block an attack etc.

To each his own.

Do you also have one near the "throne" ? That is your most vulnerable place when someone breaks the door down.

Who says you have to keep it closed or locked at night?

I'd be more worried about fumbling for a loaded gun under a pillow and having a ND.

For reference my M&P or USP live in a holster on the nightstand.

Don't worry too much about this guy. He's a self proclaimed "fish molester", who quotes himself, and asks himself questions.

No I hold him at gunpoint and offer him a chance to beat me at a game of FIFA/COD... If they win they get to keep their life.

This stays under my pillow. Is a RIA .45 with JHP. I've slept with a pistol under my pillow since I was 16.
