Default FS - PRICE DROP - 1996 Ford Explorer XLT 2wd Fixer Upper

I'm gonna take one last chance at seeing if anyone wants a fixer-upper little workhorse.

I had it up for sale, but then had to move... so I put it back into service ferrying boxes back and forth. It has always been such a reliable car... and I hate the idea of scrapping her... but that is in her (end of week) destiny unless a Calgunner saves her?

1996 Ford Explorer XLT - Fixer Upper - 2 wheel drive, 242,000 miles

This has been a reliable SUV through the years… was my wife's daily commuter… and still runs (I drove it fully loaded with boxes the last weeks and no problem) however, it has a "issues".

Firstly... it currently has a check engine light!
Diagnostic says P0113 Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High - this sensor sits at the front of the engine and the plastic clasp securing it snapped. It is held in place now with tape, and so it moves a little which is causing the sensor to go off.

More importantly is Code P0302 which is a Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected. I'm told this is happening because there is the beginnings of a blown head gasket at cylinder 2. Its very minor right now, and so the engine still runs smooth, but there is a "1 drop per 10 seconds" leak coming out of this location.

In August 2016 I installed a New Radiator, New Fan and Fan clutch, New Water Pump and New Thermostat. (at approx. 218k)

The plugs and oil were last done at 236k

Also... the front windshield seal lost its stickum… and so the windshield actually slid down about an inch out of place, leaving a small gap along the top. The window itself, the glass, is fine but the window needs to be removed and remounted with new rubber seal.
(there is damage to the headliner on the driver’s side as a result, and the drivers visor so both will need replacing.)
(AND… we currently have strips of duct tape across the front of the window to prevent rain and air getting in)

We are Only the 2nd Owner (from 62k)(1st Owner was Family Member)
All Maintenance was done at the dealer through 150,000, after that I started doing a lot of it myself.
Unfortunately, I ran shorter of both the time and the money to provide the kind of care the car needs.

Additional descriptive information:
White Exterior (clear coat is peeling) with Factory Tinted Windows.
Grey Interior with Leather Seats,
Power Front Seats (Driv & Pass) (Driver’s seat is torn up and currently has a Seat Cover over it)
Power Windows,
Cruise Control,
AM/FM Radio working (There is a 6CD changer - carriage is in center console - but does not work)
AC (the AC works, and blows cold, but… it only blows out of the dash "defrost" vents… the vent selector works on a vacuum system and I can't figure out where the vacuum leak is… if you can figure that out, its an easy-ish fix)
Heater works good too.

Finally... the registration expired on Sunday 30th. Since a smog is required to register, engine repairs are required before you can legally drive it.

Current Location is Fontana/Rancho Cuc - Intersection of the 210 & 15 - come and get it... or I can arrange to drive to you!
