New - SKS Paratrooper Front Sight
This is a front sight assembly to convert any SKS to Paratrooper length without any barrel turning!
All it takes to convert a full length or 59/66 to a para is a hacksaw, a power drill, and a roundhead screw. To be sure the barrel face is flat, a face cutter can be used, but if you have a 90 degree square, a file can be used. Parts include the cap Head screw, three set screws, and two Allen keys. The sight is high grade steel, which will expand and contract at the same rate as the barrel. Black oxide finish. The sight fits every known SKS made. The list was 1. Several Russians from 1949 to 1956 2. Albanian 3. Romanian 4. Yugo M59 and M59/66 5. Chinese several units 6. East German 7. North Korean 8. North Vetnamese Thanks for looking, Craig www.bulletbutton.com |

Paratrooper conversion photo tutorial
Here is a tutorial on the conversion.
Total elapsed working time 18 minutes. Measure and mark barrel length. Measure twice - cut once. CUT away! Try to get it straight, but depending on your facing method, it might not really matter. Buy a good face cutter and it makes this a snap. You can do this work with a file and L square, but it takes longer. Crown the faced barrel. A screw, lapping compound, and a drill work great, but we used a crown cutter. Install the new Prince50 Designs/ Assault Planet SKS front Sight assembly with the post and barrel from your old sight. It takes longer to make this tutorial than do the conversion! Thanks again for looking, Craig www.bulletbuton.com

This is the same height as the standard sight pin. It looks shorter because we gave it AK style ears instead of the complete loop protecting the front pin.
No bayonet is possible without turning down the barrel anyway, as the bayonet loop fits over the very small diameter end of the barrel. When the barrel is cut back to 16 or 16.5 inches, the diameter is larger, thus the bayonet would not work, just as the original front sight would not work. This is a quick and easy paratrooper mod. No removal of the barrel from the rifle to turn the barrel end down to the original diameter under the sight. Best Regards, Darin
