Default Rangemaster job available Pomona Ca.

I posted this in the Jobs wanted/offered section but for the LEO's I am putting it here for anyone interested that hasn't seen it. Take care.

I only glanced at the job description briefly so maybe I missed it, but I’m always surprised that a police department would hire a non-sworn civilian for a job like this.

Maybe so but it looks like they have determined that whoever is most qualified could have the job depending on experience.

So how would little to “NO” experience in law enforcement be “most qualified” then? That’s like an EMT teaching an already skilled surgeon how to operate.

Meh; I think it depends on what exactly they need each rangemaster to teach (assuming they have more than one). I am going out on a limb here but I am assuming they are going to look for a retired LEO like most agencies do that hire civilians as (additional) range staff. There are some absolutely wicked instructors out there who have little to no LEO experience; I would gladly have one of them as my department rangemaster (but none of them are probably going to do that job for a relatively small PD; I get that). Preferably; an agency might have someone like that teaching the skills they know best and then some folks from in house who can teach the agencies particular techniques/procedures/etc.

Ok, I see what you mean in that case.

Absolutely the type of job I will be looking for after retirement. Good luck to whoever applies.

Default Rangemaster

I knew the last two Range Masters at the Pomona PD range. I didn't know they had an indoor range either.
They both enjoyed their jobs there. Both were very knowledgeable naturally
