Default Citadel M1 Carbine .22 LR

Saw this at Cabela's yesterday. Seemed like a fun little gun but I've read bad things about Chiappa who manufactures the gun. Anyone here have one or has spent time with one. What do you think about it? Worth owning?

I have been looking at that as well but as I don't have a 10/22 it would be more expensive but possibly more fun as well. I'm definitely considering it though.

reviews are mediocre. I started looking because of the Turner's price but have been turned off due to reviews and the plastic bits. I think the 10/22 route is how I'll go. That and a wz-48 .22lr nagant trainer are in my future, something about the big brother / little brother battle rifle piques my interest

I bought one back when Turners first advertised them. I had several problems with mine not extracting rounds. The rear sight is plastic and flimsy. I am looking for a replacement sight. I haven't shot it a second time yet so do not know if it was the ammo or something else. It does look neat and is fun to shoot (when it works).

Just go the stock route with the 10/22..that will fix your functionality problems.

Plus it looks just as good or better than the wood stock used by Citadel.

Default Detailed info on the .22LR Chiappa M1 Carbine

Here's a good article on the .22LR Chiappa M1 Carbine, including important safety warnings. Very much worth reading: http://www.m1carbinesinc.com/carbine_chiappa.html

I went the 10/22 - Sarco stock - tech sights route and couldn't be happier. I know I can buy parts and magazines for years to come which I wouldn't be sure of with the Chiappa. Also the Sarco stock is well made. Although, as the other thread points out, they are horrible to deal with sometimes - smooth as butter others.

Thanks. It's a good reason and I think it made me stay away from the rifle for the time being until they can straighten it out.

I just refuse to ever buy a 10/22....

Why on earth would you refuse to ever buy a 10/22? That seems like a monumentally stupid choice.

I would not buy anything made by Chiaapa, they make total trash. Now if a good Company would make a nice M1 Carbine 22 rimfire I would be all over it.I would spend upwards of 500.00 to 600.00 for a quality made one but would not give 10 cents for anything made by Chiaapa..Trust me I know, have made the mistake before with them and so have many others..Thanks
