Judging from the magazine, it could possibly be a .22lr conversion or using 9mm/45

Sorry for the crappy iphone pictures. Finally finished my 80% build. Duracoat ended up matching the FDE Magpul furniture pretty well. Hope to go try it out this weekend.

Just finished this one up earlier tonight. Last piece needed was the DPMS free float tube. Surprised that DPMS sent this out to me fairly quickly. Frustration came when I had to remove the FSB to install the hand guard. Sub standard DPMS finish quickly scratched up. Only solution was to strip the end of the barrel to bare steel. End result looks good. Completely matches the overall two-tone effect with the TM 80% lower.

What buffer tube is that? I'm looking around for the shortest possible buffer tube that'll still work reliably with a pistol.

I like it! I got an Adams Arms 7.5" upper for mine with a Noveske Firepig and AFG2 in FDE, but haven't gotten a buffer tube yet. I do have an EOTech 552 on it as well.

Whats a good, quality laser that can be seen in the day time? I've been debating what to use (eotech, flippies, or laser). Being a pistol, Im leaning toward a top mount laser....suggestions?

Default HELP: AR pistol from 80% lower legal in California?

Hey All,

I'm still confused on the searches that I've done. In plain simple terms for myself I'd like to know some questions before I invest.

1. AR pistol from 80% lower legal in California? Of course using a pistol buffer tube, BB and jigged by myself (may not look pretty).

2. I also have long rifles and want to include a SBR in my safe. Is it okay?

3. I'm going to leave it blank (no etching) and NOT intend to sell it. Can someone link me some legal info to print so I can save it? I'd like to show that it's legal proof for example DOJ or ATF docs.

4. Do I need to save a single sled (mag) with it?

5. Your recommendations on barrel length from current users.

Your info is much appreciated. Thanks all and Calguns!

Building my own AR pistol...still collecting parts and learning...I have seen a few different barrel lengths on the market. I am thinking that a 10.5" barrel will be the way to go. Any input on this matter? What special/different parts are needed versus a carbine AR? Thanks for your help.

The shorter, the more items you will need to remedy issues regarding extreme pressures. Shorter barrels tends to provide excess of pressure which causes a lot of failures, especially, double feeds -- in my case.

I had to get heavier buffer, stronger buffer springs, extractor upgrade, firepig, etc. for my 10.5

however, I managed to do well with my second pistol build with an adjustable gas block and heavier buffer with a carbine buffer spring. It was for a 7"

Every setup has their issues...

those pig tail are hit or miss. consensus say it's just a gimmick and the curves causes stress points cracks; rendering it unreliable. best bet would be an adjustable gas block which allows you to control the amount of pressure retarding or advancing the pressure.

however, there are individuals that have success with it. I would invest in a pistol gas tube ( about 8 bucks) and if youre having a lot of issues, then buy the pig tail since its expensive

or if you already have carbine buffer and springs, then I would, acquire the pig tail

Give a call over to KAK Industries. I bought a few barrels from them and they are good people. (816) 516 6774. Here's a 9" 300 blk for sale from them on GB (closes today): http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=335047077

I know place in Valencia. If you bring only one lower, it will be costly. If you can find more people, then it can be done at fair price and any weekend.
