COAL, seated bullet too deep
So, with my foray into reloading I set my seating die too deep for the first couple of rounds. Instead of starting too long and working in, I started too short.
Anyway, I'm putting 70 grain VLDs on top of 20.5 grains H-335 (starting load from Berger manual), the shortest round is 2.198 COAL, then a little longer one, a little longer one and then I wised up and the rest are 2.260. The load isn't compressed and my understanding is that this may cause accuracy issues, but not safety issues. Am I correct?

6 hundredths isn't much but it could cause unsafe pressure. Someone with quickload would have to double check. What is the min length listed in the manual?

Just use a kinetic puller to stretch them out, but NOT to fully pull the bullet and then re-seat them to your desired length.

They'll set back when feeding if he does that.

If he is using them in anything semi-auto, he is probably crimping them too.
So, when he re-seats them, he would also re-crimp them. They are not gonna move any more than any other of his rounds would move.

bullet puller FTW!
Only thing I ever use my pullers for is fu** ups. Luckily mine are rarely used. |

+1 on the bullet puller.

Nope. Still plenty of tension.

Interestingly enough I ran across this post on longrangehunting
http://www.longrangehunting.com/foru...essures-49618/ In short, seating too deep (if not compressing) generally causes a reduction in pressure. Interesting. I'm still going to go the kinetic puller route. Though I may single load these three (depending on the neck tension consensus).
