Saga EBR Chassis Conversion of M1A
I have just become aware of the Saga EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle) aluminum Chassis. Relatively expensive but not that far beyond some of the fiberglass stocks on the market. I understand that it will make a well tuned M1A rifle into a formidably accurate long range rifle.
Would the M1A remain California legal if installed in that stock? Last edited by Bruce A.; 08-10-2017 at 12:28 PM.. |

Unfortunately, you learned about it too late. You would have had to build it before January 1st, 2017 and even then, you would have had to install a mag release that requires a tool to remove the mag before adding any of the "evil" features.

As far as the stock making the rifle "formidably accurate", that sounds like marketing to me. -- Michael |

Having owned an M14 (LRB) in a Sage chassis, I can relate some experience. I bought the rifle in the chassis with the pistol grip. It came with a Commiefornia-legal "bullet-button" installed. The bullet-button is really just the standard magazine catch with the lever removed. Makes it damn near impossible to remove the magazine. I converted the chassis to the "shotgun-stock" configuration as posted by elSquid. Worked great, and reminded me of a modern BAR WWII rifle. Was really cool actually. The downside was the weight. Fully outfitted with a scope & 20 round mag, the rifle was right at 14 pounds on my digital postal scale. Not an issue on the bench, but for off hand it was brutal. As cool as it was I ended up selling the chassis & putting my M14 in a fiberglass usgi stock.

I am surprised that they didn't configure it like the Archangel.
That conforms and still gets the grip I want. I have instructions on how to lock the adjustable stock on the Archangel to conform. As for 20 round mags, I wish! Last edited by Bruce A.; 08-24-2017 at 8:07 AM.. |
