Default Gospel Music - ETA All Music of Faith

I don't know what faith you are - I am Christian.

Doesn't matter what faith you are - Play your fav Gospel Music music of Faith

In my opinion ... Pentecostal Music does it for me It's where R&B and Soul and Motown, some Rock too ... got it's sound from.

This a good one - wait for it

i believe Gospel Music is a christian specific genre of music, hence the name "gospel". as a non-christian i think the music i listen to would be categorized as devotional music. i do listen to religious music, got a entire playlist on my ipod, but it would not fall under the "gospel" umbrella because it's definitely not a christian message. if ya really don't care about what faiths post music in this thread let me know and i will post some of the stuff i listen to.

in that same vein, I always enjoyed the Archer's 'Celebrate' album and in particular this track... "Where Could I Go"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9c2fCF9CTE

Here's another I still enjoy that was written by some fellow bandmates back in the '80s..

I am a big fan of Sacred Harp / Shape Note singing. Here is a great example.
It is a style done in a small number of southern churches.

I'm a WL. Here are the songs that we performed last weekend. 'God Is Able' is one of my favorites.

it can be hard to find buddhist devotional music in english but there is some good stuff out there. back in the 80's The Wayfarers put out some real good music. their music is real easy listening with a strong message. all their stuff is generally good, but here are a few of my favorites.

Self reliance

The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir is a top notch choir.

Tommy Walker is a local SoCal guy. Some friends of mine attend the church where he serves as worship leader.

A common misconception with members of the churches of Christ is that we disapprove of religion based music because we don't use instruments in worship. But that isn't the case. I like Ernie Ford, the Carter Family, and the Newsboys

This one has really good message

Have to FIRST comprehend the separation of ego consciousness and the Divine Soul to understand the lyrics.

The words in this song are not just lyrics ... these words are teachings of Buddah.

A couple more. I like this modern arrangement of the old hymn "Blessed Assurance" by Third Day.

Revelation Song is one I like to play live. I tend to rock out on the electric guitar a bit on the big parts.

There’s a ton of passages in the Bible that describe where musical instruments are used in worship of our Lord. The only reason things like electric guitars, keyboards and amplifiers weren’t mentioned in the Bible is because at the time of those writings, God hadn’t brought Les Paul into the world ...yet.

Psalm 92:1-3 (NIV)
1-It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, 2-proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, 3-to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.

If you're interested in why we don't use mechanical instruments in worship, I would be happy to explain. This would be a great discussion for another thread, though.

That is truth. I've heard that C of C doesn't believe in using musical instruments in worship because they are not mentioned in the New Testament. Which, if you take it to the extreme, neither is electric lighting, air conditioning, clocks, indoor plumbing or Bibles.

Back to music, here's one we are playing tomorrow.

Well, we recognize a difference between the subject of instruments and the subject of lighting. If you'd like to know how we view the subject I would be happy to explain. But again, in another thread will be better.

Love that Cris Tomlin version of How Great is Our God.

Reminds me of Greg Laurie’s comments-
