Default 1x4 illuminated scope options

Hey guys im looking for opinions on a 1x4 illuminated scope options for my dad for his ak, he loved my rds on my ar but needs some magnification for his old eyes. So far I have it limited down to about 3 options

1. Millet dms- uses 1 mow dot with 18 moa circle like eotech with lower and left and right crosshairs 200$

2. Mueller speed shot- uses 4 moa dot like aimpoint 229$

3. Leatherwood cmr- dot and horseshoe reticle

Im trying to keep this under 300$. And I do want one that you can see in daylight. I have read many reviews on all of these but would like to hear from more trusted sources here. Also any other options would be appreciated. Thanks for the input

I have the millet dms 1 for my mini 14. Nice clear lense but the illumination even at the highest setting is barely usable in the daytime. With 1-4 I'm able to hit targets up to 300 yards.

I have a Leatherwood scout scope on my M1A. I did not kick that the glass isn't as clear as the millet dms.

CMR is in a different catagory for glass quality compared to the scout scope. The CMR has some of the clearest glass I've seen on a 1-4X scope. Unfortunately however, the illumination is not daylight visible in sunlight.

Look at the Burris TAC-30. Clear glass, BDC. The reticule isn't daylight bright but daylight visible (i.e. you can see it easily).

The burris is a little more than I want to spend. The weaver is non-illuminated. I also looked at the bushnell pcl it has ffp but at 1x you can barely see it. I think I'm gonna go with the Mueller, it seems like the only one that's bright enough in daylight and has good reviews on most websites. SWFA has a sale with mount for 239$

Pa only has the 5.56 acss, the 7.62 won't be out for awhile last I checked. Also the reticle seems too busy for just plinking like he's gonna be doing.

Weaver has an illuminated 1-5x24 (model 800364)... the PCL reticle is small at 1x, but being FFP, it's usable in higher magnification. At low mag you don't really need the holdover marks since your target will be so close - it works decent as a pseudo red dot... it's a good low cost option - but the Weaver Tactical 800364 is a much better choice (albeit higher price).

LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEEE my Mueller SpeedShot.

If you want the benefits of a red dot that allows for great magnification up to 4x, then it's for you.

Not to mention the dot is truly daylight bright. I mean that thing on 10 is SUPER bright. I failed to find a reticle on a 1-4x that was as bright.

I have astigmatism and it's been a great optic.

I actually ended up going with a swfa 1x4 optisan mamba. It has basically the Dms reticle that i liked with both red and green illumination that all reviews I've seen is daylight bright. Got it and mount for 149$. I found alot of good reviews on it, hopefully it works out ill post review here later after we try it out.
