Default these burn marks, good--or bad?

I fired 40 of my own hand loads of .308 out of my Rem700 yesterday. As I was cleaning them this morning I noticed on the neck there is black (carbon). I then compared the amount of black to a factory load which only had a little amount of black at the mouth of the neck. Is this an issue? Have I been letting gas out somehow? Is it due to Not crimping? The black is ONLY on the neck and doesnt continue down any farther. Thanks.

here is my handload with the black on the entire neck all the way around

and here is a factory load (Nosler 168gr HPBT)

Not an issue, it usually means you are loading at less pressure than factory. Less pressure means less expansion of the case to seal the chamber, which allows more gas to flow back. It won't harm anything, but makes you use more tumbler time to clean.

Like above slower expansion. I have also seen that due to dirty chambers but usually it not a bad thing. Just signs of whats happening. Good your paying attention to that stuff tho OP. Good habit when reloading.

Also, every time that you reload the brass case it work hardens a little and is slower to expand on firing to seal against the chamber.
