a man walks up and asks for a savage bolt gun in .270

the worker behind the counter comes back with a remington 700 in 308!!

had to laugh at that one but it didnt end there!! to still try and make a sale he comes back with a ar10!

they dont have the brightest sales people there...

I'm breaking the law, then. My only SA revolver is a .44 Mag.
A .22 is on my list.

Hey- I don't work there really anymore- but, I think you may be trolling.

A "very clean over priced range?"; Where else can you rapid fire indoors and shoot long guns other than a .22? Where else can you shoot from a holster (with permission) and not have a range master yell at you? I'd pay an extra few bucks to shoot until I run outta ammo.

That's the main reason I went there. Except for training classes and it's limited there, or matches, it's hard to find a place to practice getting quick follow up shots. At least without driving 90 minutes out to the boonies.

I just went for the fist Tim last weekend. Great place and since they don't charge by the hour my 3 hour range visit was a real value. The staff was great and friendly unlike some other ranges. I am now a customer and I will be going there a lot to feed my gunpowder addiction.

rapid fire is pointless unless you can move around and engage multiple targets...

other wise unless its 22 ammo its really a waste of money...

also its a 25 yard range soo long guns are kind of pointless.... its not challenging what soo ever! it does not build skills at all...

the only thing i enjoyed about that place was that it was very close and very clean!!! which are 2 huge reasons why i go to certain gun ranges....

but these are just my OPINIONS...

I find the option to rapid fire is nice in a place that is local. I almost never rapid fire, but the option to fire slightly quicker than the "one second tap one second tap" without being yelled at is nice. And if I wanted to burn through a quick 10 just for fun, I can. Afterall, I do go shooting to both practice AND have fun All without having to drive to no man's land.

As for long rifles in a 25 yard range being pointless...I agree and disagree. Yes, firing a rifle in a 25 yard range isn't optimal. But having a rifle for one of my home defense weapons, it is nice to practice in an area that is climate controlled, where I can practice in say, the distance of my hallway. Obviously my pistol is primary for HD, but if push came to shove and I grabbed the rifle instead...it's good and fun practice.

Plus they treat you like family there. This is huge to me, because it seems as of late alot of my friends and some family who have never shot a gun before have been asking to go to the range with me. It's their literal first impression of firearms and the firearm world. I don't want to bring them to a place that would give them a bad experience. That'll most likely turn them off to firearms all together.

Like you said, it is your opinion and I am in no way trying to take that from you. You could have said this place is horrible and you are never going back. That's your opinion and you are entitled to it! Have a good one man....or...ma'am? hehe

I agree with ya somewhat. That's why the owner plans on expanding and having a tactical house in the back soon.

Send me a PM and I'll show ya some vids of what we used to do after hours.

A tactical house in the back would be the icing on the cake! That would be amazing and would open the door to possibly offering basic tactical carbine/pistol courses in the future.

And, bring it Kenny! haha

A 25 yard battle zero for an AR15 is perfect for longer range accuracy. Using my custom blend 55gn SGK tipped, LC brass on top of 27gn of BLC-2, a 25 yard zero is dead on at 300 yards. You should get similar results with other factory loads.

I was up there today around 4pm. Not a bad facility at all. It was a bit hectic but it was busy. I think there was a calgunner a few stalls down from me. Heard him tell someone else about the site but by the time I had finished my mag he left. If he's on this thread I think he was in lane 7 and i was in 10 shooting the .308 AR and a sig lol.

Great Place ! friendly staff reasonable ammo prices Its worth the drive. funny enough I live in South sac and pass by the Gun Room on my way up there .

Don't know of any other ranges in the Sac Area that will let you double tap and draw for the holster if you ccw .

I just finished my CCW class there this past weekend. Good class and cool instructor.

The range/store guys are totally cool, especially Garrett and Seth (Not the owner Seth). I live in Elk Grove, about 5 minutes from The Gun Room, however, I do greatly prefer making the drive out to The Gun Range when I feel like doing some shooting for a few hours.

Thanks again guys! I highly recommend this range to anyone looking for a good place to shoot!

I was already planning to go out there on that day anyways as I get my DPMS SASS out of gun jail the day before. Since I was already gonna be there, it would be nice to meet other CalGunners.

So, how bad was the .308 indoors? I wouldn't mind having a place to shoot my FAL now that it's raining, but I'm leery of touching it off inside.

I'll be there on the 27th about 5:30ish after work with my Stag 8 and possibly my Sig.

As for .308 indoors? I went there one time shooting next to a guy shooting his WASR. As well as next to a couple who had a rented AR-15 and a .308 bolt gun. It was definitely loud when everyone shot but not that bad. I actually enjoyed it

i've been there several times with my handguns, AR and mini14, shotguns etc.

Yes, I know 25 yards isn't really that challenging for rifles, but sometimes you just gotta blow off some steam and send some bullets down range.

it works perfectly for that purpose.

The staff is friendly and helpful, and they are definitely not holier-than-thou attitude you'll get from places like The Gun Room in EG.

edit i dont know how to post videos so bear with me. its on my photobucket just click the pic lol

If I wasn't going to pumpkin smash next Saturday I'd bring in my PSL Carbine, and Draco. Out in the open the overpressure blast from the Draco is fun, inside I don't know yet.

What's so funny about that? You do realize a 7.62x51 NATO will chamber in a .308, with a tiny bit lower SAAMI chamber pressure, right?

I know they are almost the same it was just my sense of humor. Meaning it was really loud so he came through the door to see what it was, and guessed it was 7.62 which is correct lol

My roommate and I came here to test out our new 91/30s (had to take mine in a guitar bag, amazon was late shipping my case). It was a great experience. The staff was friendly, the hours were great, and we basically had a whole section to ourselves. The whole range was well ventilated. I am looking forward to returning.

I bring my mosin there a lot ha. My friend brings his mosin, which is a lot shorter than mine, and its flash is unreal! Have to make sure we have a room to ourselves when he uses it cause it blinds other shooters ha.

Unofficial Calguns shoot...not when its right down the street from me!

If you guys can throw something together for the 27th I can dig up a few Calguns.net goodies to give away. I can also give you one of the Calguns signs we will be using at Sac Valley Shooting Center the morning of the 27th. It is sure to catch some attention.

Let me know!

I know that Ryououki said he'd be there and I will be there, Dragon911 teased at the thought of "calguns saturday nights"

I feel as with all things, it might start off with a few and begin to grow into something bigger as time goes on!

Yup...things just kinda happen like that.

I have a shoot Saturday morning (that everyone in Sacramento should be at ) and then my wife wants to whisk me away to the outlets for some quality time.

How late will you all be there? Maybe we can swing by on our way back.

Man, I would love to go, but already have plans for the 27th! It only takes me about 10 minutes to get there....

Might try going in the AM, I want to take my wife in to do some shooting. She's never shot any weapons, which is really sad because we just celebrated our 11th anniversary last weekend!!! It's really sad that I haven't got her into shooting already!!!
