Default Banded Dove

Went out this morning to merced for a share hunt draw with my brother in law and we ended up shooting a banded bird. Wondering if anyone has gotten one as well?

I know with pigeons if you get a banded one it's best not to say anything about it.

you can look at tag and contact banding agency to find out when and where tagged. they use info for species range/age/etc. nothing wrong with shooting banded game birds.

Nice work on the band. I finally picked up one this year. We also picked up two in the field on dead birds the day after opener, thanks for the free jewelry Slob hunters!! who down more than one bird and usually can’t find either.

How did the rest of your hunt go? Any ducks or pheasants?

A few ducks throughout the day but nothing close enough. No pheasant either but the doves are all over out there.

CoNgRaTs on the banded bird.

NATEWA recently posted a banned goose that he shot, kool, he reported his band on- line, here's the link to his topic:

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1398001

Here's 2 of my post combined from my contribution to NATEWA topic.
Quote,
"Nice, I found one metal detcting near Amboy:
*Banded, 9-18-1962
*Incountered, (found) in January 2009
*American Coot
*Hatched, 1962 or earlier
*Location, Nerrows, Oregon
*Sex, Unknown
*Bander, Jess Wenick"

"If you contact the USGS and send then the information they will send you a Certificate of Appreciation, that's what I have".

Ducks are slow this week. We need some cold weather up north! I donít even bother with pheasant hunting any more.
