Might as well add myself to this list. Initial appointment was on 8/7, was told that review convenes towards the end of the month and to expect an approval or denial by the start of October.

You should have it by early mid septmber.. as long as there were no arrest you mentioned. then they have to wait for your police reports from whatever agency booked you

I messed up. Apparently I recieved my initial approval (go get Live Scan done) letter via email on 07/17. I still can't find it in my email and I have not deleted any since 05/03/2013, so I thought. Amber is going to mail me a hard copy today. I am one step closer. Actual time 06/13 Initial Interview-07/17 initial Emailed approval letter. How did I let this happpen!!!!! I need some one to slap the snot out of me. Just a good slap to the face to wake me up.

On the bright side....I am moving on up!

Had my 4 hour renewal class with Wesley Lagomarsino (lfiguns.com) on Tuesday. Stand-up guy. Had a great time (again) and learned a new technique that should help control recoil and my follow-up shots. Highly recommend his classes. In my opinion, the best class for the money.

My initial appt. was 6-5-13. I finally decided to email and call and email and call. Amber responded to my e-mail that an approval e-mail was sent a month earlier (7-5-13). She resent the letter for life scan and instructions yesterday, which I printed and got life scanned that afternoon.
Which brings me to the question, What is the latest response times for life scan hard copies to be sent to Sac Sherriffs? Also started looking for ccw instruction, seems like EVERYONE is in the business now. Any suggestions out there? I'm leaning towards Wes, but taking the 16hr ccw and qualifying 3 guns is going to be pricey. I'm open to other suggestions.

John Taylor in Lincoln is good. I think his business is Best Handgun Training... He has a private range so qualifying is really easy.

Not a really good idea to use two of those words in the same statement. 'Good' and 'Cheap' should not be used together, especially when you're talking about training in the use of lethal force. Just my two cents worth.

SVSC mentions they do ccw training. Is that LFI or does SVSC offer their own ccw course?

I didn't go to get trained in the use of lethal force. I went to satisfy the states requirement that I take 16 hours of class in when I can shoot and show that I know how to hit what I aim at. My opinion is that if you need training in the use of lethal force, go take a real class in it, not the bs class CA requires. Plenty of combat classes out there to teach you, too bad most don't fill the CCW requirement or cost more than twice my firearm, and I own a Sig.

Read "cheap" as "financially inexpensive compared to other offerings within the Greater Sacramento Area", and your problem goes away. It gets even better if you don't want to drive 45 minutes each way to the SVSC and spend two days out there.

"Shoot and Scoot" drills have their place, and can build confidence. But for meeting minimum standards for the license at reasonable cost, CSTA FTW.

(Also, you get to shoot at the Mangan Range. A real treat for city history, and it's like shooting in a dim alley).

Cheers.

Yes I got a real kick out of shooting there. Old WWII posters, pictures of shooters from way back. And the range is like a dim alley, made the qual very real life. And they were tough on qual, most important part in my mind. There was a guy there for requal who had a real problem hitting the target, I don't think I would want to be around if he had to use that leg iron of his. Course I don't know if he's still carrying because they downchecked him.

CSTA in my mind was affordable, gave me all the info I needed to pass the test and ran a good tight range for qual. Why pay more when you don't need to?

Good training and affordable rates at CSTA . Phil and Ken put on a good course . The Sac City Range was also an interesting place to qualify .

mine was on 8/7 as well. please post when you get your live scan email, as it seems most people are getting theirs at the same time after their initial. Good way to know if individually we where over looked or emails did go through etc.

Just got back from morning appointment, I am now the happy owner of a Sac County CCW permit. Only problem is the darn thing won't fit in my wallet. Kinda goofy the way they have the just too big paper folded then laminated. Amber tells me to just fold it to fit, no cutting of anything but clear laminate part, which is too bad since the print part only would be the size of a license if you cut the border away. Anyway, I am happy and glad this is done for two years now.

Initial appt - May 1
Tenative approval letter - May 15
Livescan sent - May 16
Livescan back - Aug 2
Final approval letter received - Aug 8
Permit received - Aug 20

Thank you Gray. Because of an old car accident where I injured my wrist, I developed a ganglion cyst which was quite painful. And had to have surgery on my off hand.

Question on what I should expect for where I am at in the process...

My initial appt was May 15th
Received approval via email June 19th
Completed livescan June 21st (also mailed in 3rd copy)

Should I have gotten some notification about my livescan? Or is my next notification going to be a final approval for issuance?

Suppose to receive a live scan notification generally in within 30 days. Me and buddies got our notices in that time frame.

Was it email or mail?

Guess I have to make a phone call on Tuesday.

I'm in the same boat. I took my live scan at the begining of July and haven't heard back. They received electronic notification in 72 hours and Amber told me it can take up to 90 days to get the physical letter from the DOJ.

I forgot to update my situation...

08/07 Initial interview

08/30 County approval via email

08/30 Livescan figerprints

08/30 Livescan 3rd page sent to SSD.

I am going to sign up for my CCW class now as I dont expect anything bad to keep me from being okay'd.

I plan on going through LFI for my training as I've been referred by a few different people.

I figure if I get my training done now, I wont have to wait as long to go from Livescan approval to final appointment.
