Default Stern Defense in BBRAW AR pistol

Would it be legal to run a Stern defense or similar 9mm magwell adapter in a BBRAW? They have a separate mag release but it wouldn’t be modifying the BB.

The DoJ has telegraphed their punch...

Quote:
11 CCR 5477: (a) The release mechanism for an ammunition feeding device on an assault weapon registered pursuant to Penal Code section 30900, subdivision (b)(1) shall not be changed after the assault weapon is registered. A weapon's eligibility for registration pursuant to Penal Code section 30900, subdivision (b)(1) depends, in part, on its release mechanism. Any alteration to the release mechanism converts the assault weapon into a different weapon from the one that was registered.
If it came to it, they would argue that what you currently had is a different weapon then the one you registered, and thus you had an unregistered assault weapon.

I’ll put it this way... If, as a RAW owner, I had to pick a test case to go forward in court to determine if this argument of their’s held up, I wouldn’t choose a stern defense magwell, I would choose a raddlock that had been loosened.

I used this device instead, it allows you to use the same mag release and eliminates any question or concern,

Have you seen the Endo mag by Mean Arms spring, follower, 9mm adapter. It converts a standard mag into an adapter/mag all in one, so there is no modification to your BBRAW lower everything on the lower works as normal and it works with colt/glock BCG'd uppers. They also have built in limiters for neutered AR's, but the blockers can be removed to fit in standard capacity mags and since you're not manufacturing a new mag it's GTG
