Default So I tell my son "trust me"

you'll want to wait until 2PM.

warden couldn't release prisoner until 2PM. trying to kill time, but 11 y/o's just have no patience. "Trust me" I keep telling him. "What's so special after 2PM?" The apple don't far from the tree

M&P15-22. PPT'd from a calgunner. came with 3 10rd mags and a 10/30. plus a red dot (to be installed later). should I mention the price??? *

it's not everything it's cracked up to be. it's far more than everything said about it. just perfection in a 22. hate to say it but my 10/22 and my deer rifle might become good friends. appleseed here we come!!

don't hate on me. (not pictured are 6 more boxes of GB's, which worked flawlessly)

gonna need every round!!

$425

Awesome. looks like you have at least one, but if you don't already have a 3-4 of the short body 10 round magazines buy them immediately on sight.

Appleseed will murder your body trying to make good prone positions with the longer magazines.

Don't you love kids - who needs knee pads or Ergo Picatinny rail covers (like an old person like me) - just shoot!

Can't wait until my little one is old enough for my wife to let me take him out with my 15-22 (that I'm basically holding for him - although I do need to 'test' it regularly :-)

The 15-22 with its adjustable stock and light weight is perfect for this.

Congrats,

got 3 10rd mags plus the 10/30. they all function great.

honestly, I didn't pay over $50 for any brick, many around $40. and about half I got at almost normal prices online.

yeah, it's higher than pre-panic, but it just takes lots of late nights, and some driving. plus, most of it has come in the past couple of weeks. lots of guys dumping ammo.

I don't think I'm hoarding at all as I plan to shoot it over the next year. and I didn't buy to sell later. I figure with me and him shooting 2-3 applesseds this summer, that's 3000 rounds right there. plus other range times. so it's not all that much as it looks. 1-/22's and mp15-22's eat ammo like a glutton!!

Yeah, I personally don't ever see myself buying Bulk ammo for more than 6 cents a round. If it was more than that, I'd probably just step it up to match ammo prices.

My 8 year old wants to steal my MP 15-22, even though he has a 10/22 and an AR lower. Guess its time to take him shopping for parts to build his AR and make his 10/22 easier for him to shoot.

For those of you holding onto guns for your little ones, remember that come Janurary the laws change and those long guns have to be transferred via FFL. As it is now there is no paperwork for transfer of long guns between family members.

Congratulations. I pick mine up on Sunday and I'm pretty stoked. Maybe I can get some of that stockpile you have there.

How does one go about transferring a long gun to an 11 y/o? I mean if I already have it before 12/31/13 then I could have transferred it any time. Or am I missing something?

Or is that the hint hint to buy before 12/31 because I've got a few in mind

"Here you go son, I am giving you your first long gun." Or you can make it more formal and write a letter of ownership to your son. I wrote both of my sons letters of ownership, signed and dated. I also keep their guns locked in the gun safe for safe keeping. I have one more gun to buy this year for my 2 year old, his own 10/22, he already has an AR lower! Thinking about getting them 80% lowers too and having their names engraved on them, nothing proves ownership better than your personal info engraved on something.

As far as hint hint, the law changes 1/1/14 and any new long gun purchases or transfers must be registered. I'm not interested in playing that game.

Come January you can still transfer firearms to your child without going through an FFL (if both parties are California residents). The things that are changing in January are...
- Your child will have to be at least 18 years old for both handguns and long guns. (currently there is no minimum age for long guns)

- Your child will have to report the transfer of both handguns and long guns to CalDOJ and pay a fee. (currently there is no fee or reporting for long guns)

IMO, they are the best tactical .22 on the market.

Reminds me of my current favorite song "Listen my son."

Congrats on the rifle, the son, and the time together.

If there is no paperwork currently for long gun transfers between family, then you can just say "This is now yours" and it's a done deal? If so, that means any long gun you have now is basically your sons already.

You will enjoy taking an Appleseed with your boy! I hope to take my girls when they are old enough (and if Appleseed is still around!) I think kids are free (still gotta pay range fee and ammo, of course!)

My advice for Appleseed is to make sure your rifle is zeroed to 25 yards (meters) and make sure it is reliable!

I took my Marlin 795 to two appleseeds. It has a tendency to jam with just two rounds in the magazine (make sure your new rifle is reliable with mags with just 2 and 8 rounds in them). And it's frustrating when you can't trust your rifle!

Yes I am going to buy my 2 year old another rifle. He may not be mature enough at this point to use it, care for it or anything else at this point but at some point in the future he will be. Maybe some of you missed the part were I said that their guns are locked up in the safe.

Both of my sons will be proud responsible owners of unregistered long guns in this nanny state. My job as a parent is to instill in them what responsibility means at the same time being responsible to and for them.

Building my arsenal now for my kids when I am gone. Teaching them firearm safety and handling is a bit stressful but I love every second of it...
Except for the:
"It's my turn to shoot, no it's my turn!"
"You load the mags, my fingers hurt."
"He shot 2 more rounds than I did."
etc.etc.etc and those of you who teach your kids know what I am talking about!

Luckily for me, they are getting older. Just give them "the look" and everyone calms the hell down!

I don't think I've fired a single non-educational round in the past 3 years. Damn, those kids! All joking aside, my job as a parent is taken very seriously, especially around firearms.

A friends of mine has one of those rifles and he's outfitted it with a 4x scope and a bipod. It's way more fun than I would have ever expected. He zeroed it to 50 yards and taking turns tipping over bowling pins or popping clays propped up on a 200 yard berm on a windy day is a rather entertaining game.
