Any instruction on How to make a zero-round mag (SLED)?

Thanks
I have a semi-local shop whom I won't mention any names that has the best solution I have seen yet. The mag has been dis-assembled with the floorplate and spring/follower taken out. Presto, you now have a 0 round sled. This method seems much simpler than what I have seen some people come up with. Good luck!

I may have missed it, but I've reread the thread a few times. Can a magazine for a smaller caliber than the gun is chamber for be a single shot sled.? We'll say a Glock 17 magazine in a Glock 22.

Does the sidearm have to be "Re-SSE'd" in order to resell it at a later date...?

I saw this on LCS website.
This kit includes:
1x 10/ 30 magazine block
1x Magazine lock
1x Single shot magazine.

This kit includes everything you need to build a California compliant pistol.

I thought we need a zero-round mag (Sled)

Don't quote me.

But, they are showing the kit come with that "blue" magazine. I believe that is a "training" magazine and holds 0 rounds. Thus making your gun a "single shot".

And, yes you're correct you do need to have a 0 round sled for compliance.

Heres a question... I'm doing an out of state private party sale and its going thru Ryan @ Table Rock Arms for the single shot conversion. Would I have to wait another 30days before doing another single shot conversion ??? Do they consider it a brand new purchase since it came from Table Rock Arms for the single shot???

I'm purchasing a custom pistol and found another 1911 I want from another private seller... Would I have to wait another 30days ???

I like dealing with Ryan because I have history with him and his service is top notch... And it easier to have private parties (even dealers for that matter) to ship to Oregon than California. Alot of dealers will not sell to you if they're shipping to California. Having Ryan @ Table Rock Arms in Oregon makes it soo much easier...

if it is a used pistol, why would it would be considered a "new purchase"?

Is the seller was a CA-resident who would PPT it to you at the dealer.

If yes, then no, you wouldn't have to wait 30 days.

If not, then yes, you would have to wait 30 days between DROSes.

Its a used pistol soo I would have thought it wouldnt fall under the 30day ruled like a new purchase...

The pistol is coming from the owner in North Carolina to Ryan @ Table Rock Arms in Oregon and then to StraightLine Tactical in Anahiem...

It doesn't matter if the gun is new or not.

new vs. used does not matter in regards to the 30-day rule.

Two quick questions concerning sse handguns -- first, if the magazine is blocked, say on a Gen 4 Glock, then the only way to load would be directly into the chamber from the top, yes? Second, wouldn't loading this way damage the extractor? After watching the Table Rock vid about how to change a gun back to it's original config, I was curious about how loading would work.

If you don't do it frequently it shouldn't have any adverse effects.

Did you have a specific question? Because the original post explains how to exempt any type of gun. For PPTs the roster doesn't matter...

Hi All, Say I just purchased a Double Star 1911 that's going through the SSE from Table Rock Arms. I'm noticing some of the local FFL's who will be receiving the firearm want to charge me tax on the price of the firearm. Is this always the case? I don't recall paying any taxes with my normal FFL (don't want to mention names just in case I can get her in trouble) from out of state purchases.

Does anyone know of a place who doesn't charge taxes? It seems odd since the purchase was out of state and the FFL is just doing the registration portion.

Well actually Jet Guns sold it to me. I'm having it sent to TRA to do the SSE and then they are sending it to a local FFL. It sounds complicated but it was because of product availability.

The FFL is actually Rob Blank. Super nice guy. Mentioned that he has to charge taxes. Anyone know of someone else who won't charge me taxes. Kind of negates the perks of buying out of state if I still have to pay taxes here.

Have a look at this:

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=497496

Sadly, all California dealers are now mandated to collect applicable tax. Any dealer not collecting tax is going to be personally liable for your tax obligation to Cali BOE.

Wow...I'm speechless. Why bother buying it out state then. Negates the whole value of buying out of state and saving the everyday man some $$$. Thanks for the information though.

DROS is $25, not $30. Any FFL who claims it is anything other than $25 is violating the law.

He is wrong. either he is uneducated or ripping you off. I have done this a two places and talked to a third in SO Cal and none charge taxes on the gun. they charge tax on the tranfer fee. it was three bucks.

No, you are wrong. The FFL has been required to collect sales tax on the firearm for a long time. The FFL fee is only taxable IF the firearm is subject to sales tax.

There are many people speeding on the roads, that does NOT make it legal. You could call the CA BOE and ask and/or you can look at all the threads here, such as what is listed in the master FAQ in the FFL forum. The government wants money and is now pushing this issue.

OK, so it sounds like everyone is now charging sales tax. I contact a California FFL today as I have a guy that want to use them for a transfer. They want me to fill out an affidavit with every gun that I ship to them in regards to the sales tax. WTF?

I mean when you buy a gun from gunbroker or a dealer it doesn't matter if it's used or new. It counts against your 1 in 30.

Regarding the tax: it's not new, but I guess it's actually being enforced now.

The BOE sent out a letter to all FFLs with a DOJ letter (CFD renewal), so the FFLs can't claim ignorance any longer. The FFL is responsible for paying the tax, so either they get it from the buyer or they pay. If they pay, they lose money. I suspect some want an affidavit so that if customers and out of state FFLs claim a false amount that the CA FFL is protected. A receipt should be good enough.

What matters is how it is transferred, either as a PPT or a dealer sale. A consignment, especially of an off-roster firearm, can be submitted as a PPT and would be exempt from the 1 in 30, but if it is on the roster, then it could be submitted as a dealer sale, which then would be subject to the 1 in 30. It is correct in saying it does not matter whether the firearm is new or used. BTW, I have seen some people claim that they consider a firearm used once it is sold, not whether it was actually shot or not.

so now the STATE is ripping us off. this is bull$h1t. this is another case of a state regulatory agency overstepping the law so they can bolster the state's coffers. this makes me mad.

where are the attornies here? this has GOT to be illegal or unconstitutional or agains tsome interstate free trade laws?

the FFL that transfers here in CA di not sell the gun nor did they accept money for it. so next time I order tires from the tire rack and take them to get mounted at the tire store will the tire store collect the tax.

I am ready to join the TEA party now. Taxed Enough ALready !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please explain how the state is ripping you off. Just because you don't like it nor agree with it does not mean that it is illegal or a rip off. I don't like it or agree with it either, but it is the regulations.

Really? It has to be illegal or unconstitutional? Do you have a legal background? If you really think it is illegal, please go hire an attorney to fight it. If you just don't like it, then please convince others to vote for people who can change this.

It is where the firearm is transferred, which is where the ownership changes (although others will claim otherwise).

The tire store does not know where or when you got the tires, plus there is no basis for them to collect sales tax, but do you really want to give the BOE any ideas? They could have the tire store report it and then check your income tax return to see if you paid the sales tax.

Good, that is doing something about it rather than just complaining.
