Saiga Bullet Guide Question
Sorry entered in wrong section
Hi to all Sorry if this question has been asked before, I have been searching but did not find an answer. I have a Saiga IZ132 7.62x39 featureless rifle and want to keep it that way. I live in California, will there be any problems adding a bullet guide so I can use the lower cost 10 round mags. made for AKs, as the Izhmash mags are running about $40 & SMG about $26 or $12 for a Magpul 10round AK mag. I want to pickup about 20, but at that price difference it would be far cheaper to install a bullet guide if this does not change the legality of the rifle being a sporting rifle? Thanks for any information RH Last edited by R-H; 12-27-2016 at 1:17 PM.. |

My understanding of the law is that 922r compliance comes into play if you modify a Saiga to accept "non sporting" mags. I don't know if using non-Saiga 10 rounders will trigger 922r as opposed to using non-Saiga standard capacity or 10/30 mags though. 922r is yet another asinine law that shouldn't exist.
I have been known to be wrong, so don't take my word as gospel.

I used to own a saiga and installed a bullet guide. Sold the magazine that came with the rifle and bought "usa made" ones (tapco). I think I also changed the handguard to a "USA made" one for 922r compliance.

Be aware 922r is a Federal requirement. NOT a Kalifornia requirement.
If you do this be aware of your "parts count"... BuildSaigaVerifyCompliance

I bought some magazines off of a Saiga website and they don't go in easily - kind of sloppy plastic near the latch... Keep in mind, they were 'modified' to have a USA feed guide... (terminology?) |
