Default BLM - San Fernando/Santa Clarita area??

So I purchased a mosin nagant recently and purchased military surplus ammo only to find out I cannot shoot it at the local ranges. Does anybody know any BLM spots I can shoot the mosin near San Fernando area or maybe around Santa Clarita?

Count me in if possible. I need to find some BLM land. Im tired of ranges right now I have a lot of ammo that the ranges wont allow being steel core? Its the 420rd box of from Walmart in the ammo can for $175.

I need to zero out a few rifles and i just hate having to wait for a cease fire every time at the range.

Im in Santa Clarita.

Thanks

Good luck finding anywhere to shoot around here,I usually go to the Palmdale area in the middle of nowhere out in the desert to shoot, the only decent out door range in this area is located just off the 210 and the Osborne exit bout 10 min up the canyon.

Does any one have the coordinates for these places? The only one I've been to lately is out by Barstow. I can ask my buddy for the coordinates if anyone wants to go out there.

Where can you confirm that the area you're in is OK to shoot in? I couldn't find any maps of any of the areas you guys mentioned on the BLM site...

+1000.

I live in the SFV, pre-panic I used go shoot/camp every weekend at my spot about 10 miles from Frazier Park. I can't wait until fire season is over, I have a bunch of targets saved up!

The one in frazier park is still closed. your best bet is rosamond. A few of my friends and I went camping overnight, shot guns, and explored. If you get lucky, you will find ammo on the ground; we found over 50 rounds of .22 lr in a 50 yard area.

Does anybody have the GPS coordinates to the BLM shooting spots mentioned (Barstow, Frazier Park, Rosamond, etc)? Either a post or PM would be greatly appreciated!

I also came across this "Shooting Map" from San Bernardino County which seems to be pretty informative. It shows where, what and when you are allowed to shoot. Couldn't find one for any other county though.

Ladies and Gents-

Thread Jack Alert-

We have all seen the posts about the fires started by sparks....

If you cannot wait until the rains start... please mandate shovels and extinguishers for each shooter.

Clear the impact area of a good 20-30' for anything that can burn...

I have been at Burro when the 100 yard range caught fire... Someone was shooting an SKS up on the hillside...

------------
I now return you to seeking BLM Land
This site and your GPS can help you verify if you are on BLM land or not

I just called a gun store in Frasier Park and they said you would probably be fine as long as it's outside Los Padres Forest.

When you guys do find a BLM spot to shoot "Please Contain Your Trash" - or these places will eventually be closed for recreational shooting.

we just need someone that knows of a place and then we can plan a fun responsible day of shooting the ammo we can't at local ranges.

I can bring tarps to catch brass if you want to keep it, i can bring trash bags and trash cans in my truck.

I don't have a big fire extinguisher but im all in for some clearing work.

Being from Texas I don't know where we can go here but im at the 5/14 split and Frazier would be fantastic if possible but at this point im fine with california city or rosmond etc.

If someone knows of a spot then lets get this going, meet like minded shooters , make some friends and have a good day shooting and clean before we leave.

Just let me know and i'll do anything I can

... I've been watching this thread for a while... Let me tell you all that unless you're willing to go out to calcity (watch out where the city limits end) or north of Barstow.... There is NO BLM land around here.

There's a lot of private land, land that intersects roads, schools, national park lands, private homes, OHV areas, etc- you get my point.

Call the local forestry and ask about target shooting.

It's CRITICAL You understand what is permissible and what's not in BLM land.

After you call- make sure you got the most updated mapped area...

And the reason most of us doesn't spill the beans- is that 9.8/10 times someone knows your area- it's gets trashed. And then that's when the Rangers start to roll in...
