the amount you've been shooting, might as well buy some more bullets and powder. what's your round count on your barrel? i bet it'll be toast by the end of the year.

You mean mat? I have the mat, blast mat, and a matching rear bag. You want 'em?

Jason-you mentioned wanting just a mat with no padding, right. You still want it?

I'm probably at about 2.5K right now. Got a bit of life to go. And after that.. I got your factory barrel to burn. My shooting is going to slow down. Just want to make my rounds count and do well competitively this year. I started getting sloppy when all I wanted to do was throw bullets down range. I'll be going 300WM by the end of the year.

Hmm.. I want it cause it's just so neat and pretty.. but I think i'll stick with my minimalist ways. I don't do well with change. I'll be sure to let you know when I decide to accessorize though

Vari-XIII LR/T's BECAME the MkIV's when the MkIV line got expanded to more than 2 models.
Same construction inside, just models getting moved to the MkIV name from the Vari-XIII name.

Well, with my wife being pregnant and all with number 2, I'm finishing up the last of what everyone wants and am going to hang up the hat for a little while.

Congrats on number 2! Now you must get in some extra shooting sessions as I can see your time being rather monopolized pretty soon.

Thanks guys. Luckily, we have both sets of grandparents within a few miles so babysitters are close. She'll let me have a few hours every saturday...I hope.

that #2 will definitely change the family dynamics again. better get your shooting in before the 3rd trimester. i have a feeling we won't be seeing you after that for awhile.

grandparents are definitely a huge bonus. best babysitters in the world.

My wife is quite the protective mother. She will more than likely say "go ahead" when matches are on. She enjoys being a mom and takes it very seriously. I may not be out there a couple weeks after delivery, but after that, I should be good.

I have about 60 rounds left neck sized for the savage. After those are gone, I won't be loading any more for it. This weekend is as good a time as any.

your a lucky man. my wife likes me around for mental support. she feels safer with me home. i really don't do much when i'm home except i help clean alot now, but i think it just makes her feel better. a few hours here and there is all i really get now, and going to the gym on weeknights. that's about it for me.

anyways, goodnight.

So if someone is going to organize a PV group buy, I'd be in for some single pound cans of RL15, VV N560, Ramshot Tac and Ramshot Magnum to experiment with.

Randall-have you been using varget in 308? Have you been getting higher ES's? Thats my motivation to switch to RL15. I don't think I'm the only one.

Yes to varget.
Yes to high ES.
That's my motivation to try RL15 per Bill's recommendation.
Also want to try Tac as it's cheaper and velocity performance falls between the two other powders.
I also want to try H335 as I have a bunch of it here for loading 223...

Code:
Cartridge : .308 Win.
Bullet : .308, 155, Lapua Scenar GB491
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.800 inch or 71.12 mm
Barrel Length : 26.0 inch or 660.4 mm

These calculations refer to your specified settings in QuickLOAD 'Cartridge Dimensions' window.
C A U T I O N : any load listed can result in a powder charge that falls below minimum suggested
loads or exceeds maximum suggested loads as presented in current handloading manuals. Understand
that all of the listed powders can be unsuitable for the given combination of cartridge, bullet
and gun. Actual load order can vary, depending upon lot-to-lot powder and component variations.

Close to the same from what I've gathered. Those two powders are used by probably 80-90% of the tac/precision guys.

The funny thing is that even though my chrono shows the ES, my groups don't show vertical stringing I would expect to see.
Something is odd because I was seeing over 80fps in 5 shot strings.
I probably need to shoot some 600yd paper over a chrono to see it and decide if it really matters or not.

Now the fun really begins. My day for myself doesn't start till both kids are sleep so around 9:30ish. That usually means homework and helping the wife do what is quiet to get done around the house. When I get to reload it doesn't happen till 10-11 at night.

I wouldn't change anything. My 2 year old daughter and my 10 month old son make the world a much better place for me, especially when they give you a smile or my daughter says she loves me.

Plus I still get to play with my toys at least once a week.

I don't think I'll have a rifle to shoot. Will probably be in pieces by then.

Oh and I meant once a month
