The only downside to a C&R license is that the agent can note the serial numbers of your collection during an audit, effectively registering them.

That's the case with every other category of FFL.

Century Arms Date Sort?
When I called Century, they said they would not date sort the Romanian SKS's. Though the gentleman also went on to say they had no problem shipping ANY of the Romanian SKS's to a California C&R holder. He seemed completely oblivious to the 50 year or older rule for shipping directly to CA C&R holders. I didn't want to push the issue, as he seemed irritated at my request to date sort, so I politely told him I have changed my mind.
I would assume they would do so automatically like AIM, but my phone call with them left me perplexed. I ended up ordering the Last Romy that AIM had because they did confirm that they will only ship 1959 or earlier to CA C&R's. Personally I don't care what year I get, I just don't want to violate CA Law. I would like to get another one though. So if any CA C&R holders can shed some light on their experience with Century Arms with regard to this batch of Romy's, I would appreciate it. |

Not sure why I was told otherwise, but looks like I'll be ordering another Romy from Century. |

century romy. It's ok <-- I meant its ok the crack is not that bad. I can hardly see it. The rest of the stock looks fantastic. It surely is a beautiful rifle. Wonder why not more of them made it to the mainland. Well, here' some pics.

nice, i picked up my cali neutered Century 59/66A1 today!
according to SKS forums mine was made in 1979, the internals are all in as good of condition as i had originally hoped once i got it disassembled, all signs show its unissued with the exception of the stock but the stock is still nearly flawless only one good ding on it and a few small scuffs all likely from handling, storage and transportation, all metal parts are 100% blued and bolt carrier and mag all show zero wear i picked it up when i was at lunch today and disassembled it and left it in my truck to melt much of the cosmo off on to the cardboard box so the major cleanup i will be doing tomorrow will go easier and once that is done ill post up photos oh its also worth noting that when i signed it out at Big 5 today the page with all of the rifles sold in their log book that had 12 spaces about half of them were SKS's that had already been sold so they must have been selling like hotcakes at 400 dollars when i got mine at that price oh yeah one more thing i checked the label on the box from century and its labeled as a CA specific model so Century is the one removing the grenade attachment and tack welding the MB on, also it was designated a -X meaning graded Excellent condition by century the highest possible of all the product codes in their current catalog |

Mine was just delivered by the big brown truck too!
First impressions: It's very dark. I sorta like it. I am not a super big fan of blond stocks, I like the darker wood so it works out well for my taste. It's pretty light. I was in Big 5 last week and I handled the Yugo SKS and I remember thinking "wow, this is heavy for what it is". The Romy has got to be a pound or two lighter than the Yugo. Overall it looks good and I am quite happy with it. The only bummer is that the stock does not match the rifle (everything else matches) Also, the stock is a little more beat up and rough towards the butt plate than I would like, but it's nothing major. I look forward to cleaning it up and taking it to the range. |

No, they don't even come with the cleaning rod. It's a bummer, but for $299 I can't complain.

according to specs the Yugo's should only be about 1/2 lb heavier than the other normal length variations from what i read. keep in mind that cosmoline can add a lot of extra weight and i guarantee you the yugo's in big 5 are absolutely chocked full of cosmoline. mine is and every other one that i look at there was as well
if weight is a real major concern though you can shed at least 1/2 lb off the end of a yugo by removing the bayo and the grenade sight, replacing the muzzle break with a better one would also help greatly but that would require some work as they are tack welded on, i plan to leave mine mostly stock, might scope it one day but i've not decided yet |

Did they at least have the cleaning kit in the butt stock? Mine won't be here until Wednesday.

The right side of the receiver is also marked with the year of production and the manufacturer’s trademark consisting of an unfletched arrow within a triangle." Because we live in California, we are only allowed to have the ones that are 50+ years old shipped to us, so that means those Romanian SKS's manufactured from '56 to '59. jl1252 |
