Here are 2 m44's.
above is m44 (bayonet locked away for safe keeping). Below was an m44 with broken/wore stock, worn out bayonet with battered crown and wide bore (.313) and weighed 9.5lb. Now it is 7lb with 17" barrel and overall 34" (about the size of my buddy's Winchester 94). Barrel free floated and is bedded . . . soon as I load up some .313 ammo I check it out at the range. I wouldn't be so sure. Some people own a lot of Mosins here.

Most are more selective than that, true
I have heard of people buying crates of Mosins to pick the best one or two before.

After reading through McDonald v. Chicago, I came upon this theme, one I've been working on various boards with various weapons. Reading took two sittings, but photos are still being made... ;-)
This one is my shooter, a 1941 VKT m39. CDFingers |

Mine's nothing special really. 1943 Izzy Round 91/30. This is probably one of the roughest rifles out there. It had a little pitting but it's not in too bad of shape. When the shellac wears off completely, I want to refinish it. This is the boom stick I want to free float and add mojo sights to. It's my only rifle.

Had this rifle for about 6 or 7 years. It was converted in Ukraine I believe.
I installed adjustable trigger after I bough it, very light and smooth. This is before I refinished it. I guess someone stole this pic and uses on their websites as I found recently, that's O.K it's Internet after all. This is after. It was refinished with stain + several coats of Shellac. bought this Finnish M39 from empirearms a couple weeks ago and i'm very happy with it. the bolt and magazine floor plate match the receiver. it's bore is excellent with just the slightest hint of use. the 2 piece butt stock looks like it's coming apart, but it's not. the bottom piece is just a bit wider than the top. oh, and i call it "Miikka". a good Finnish name.

Looks like I have another place to post all of my little beauties!
From left to right.... -Finnish P-27, blued bolt. -1939 Tula M91/30. Refinished stock. -1942 Izhevsk M91/30. Finnish capture with what appears to be a genuine WW2 Russian leather sling. It also has a blued bolt -1933 Izhevsk M91/30, all parts matching including the bayonet. Russian refurb. -1968 Finnish M39. Brand spanking new, hasn't even been fired yet. -1943 Izhevsk M38 in an M44 stock, no parts matching. Refinished stock. -1954 Romanian M44, my first Mosin and big(ger) bore rifle. I was eying the M44 for a full year in the Big 5 ads when I was 16 and they were 50 bucks. My brothers knew about it (I told them every week) and I got this rifle for Christmas. smog7 asked if I'm going through law school.
No, but I am an English teacher in the California Community College system. I use cases in my classes that I'm interested in, and I'm interested in McDonald and Heller, among many others. English teachers have a hard time reading stuff without writing stuff. So, as I was reading McDonald I had a weapon nearby and conceived of the pic. Since then I've used various forum-appropriate weapons to put pics like this on other boards. In this pic, the m39 rear site covers up the circled number 3 on the paper, indicating the third page of notes and quotes. The left hand numbers refer to the page on the .pdf where the quote was found or where the note refers. CDFingers Last edited by CDFingers; 08-26-2010 at 5:28 AM.. Reason: tyop |
