Man you guys are fast. Ordered Sunday evening and it's sitting in my safe two days later. Awesome product. The angle is perfect for easy access and the neoprene sleeves definitely give me peace of mind. Thanks!

I should be getting an safe soon and wanted to order the 8 pistol rack but I'm not stationed in California anymore. Can I still order from the CalGuns link on this thread? I managed to get a PCS to Texas in 2010 to be closer to family.
Thanks! |

Ordered a 4 rack to take to the range with tray and protective sleaves. Shipping was about a week.
Very helpful at the range, as I had a few pistols I was working with. But was worried about one thing: Would racking a just-shot pistol ruin/damage the orange nose or perhaps the neoprene sleves? Anyone have long-term range use experience? My worst fear is that a hot barrel would cause the nose or sleaves to melt in the barrel... I didn't re-rack my pistols until they had at least a few mintues to cool off, although that meant they spent time on the nasty carpet my local range has on their tables. Only possible draw back I can think off of the design, else they are great.

Just wanted to add a follow up post:
Ryan contacted me immediately after my post, giving me heat specs and materials info. For right now, it is best to let a pistol cool off before re-racking. We then exchanged a bunch of emails regarding ideas and feedback. It was great to hear what other ideas are coming down the pipe to address the "hot gun" use issue, as well as other comments/suggestions made by collectors like myself. I've found that ArmoryRacks is definitely customer oriented and is really taking in feedback from its users to develop its product line. One topic that came up was the tray design, which is very durable and well made, but I was concerned about laying more "collectible" items down on it. Well, Ryan was already on it, and sent me prototypes of a new tray liner they are coming out with! (got these early last week, and looks like they are now listed on the website!) It is a tray insert designed to fit inside their trays (one for the 4 gun rack and one for the 8 gun rack). They used padded velvet black felt for the surface; it makes for a very classy looking set up. They added a little black ribbon pull tab in the middle of one of the sides, and this makes it easy to take in and out. The backing material is a hard cardboard, but this only so they can offer these tray inserts at such a low price. It's supposed to be listed on their website soon, so I won't let any pricing info out yet, but I think it'll be a no-brainer add on for buyers like me who are using these racks also for their collectibles. (just checked, they are listed - less than $5). I am totally comfortable laying down any pistol on the tray insert, and not worrying about scratching the finish. The black velvet tray also actually makes for a nice background when photographing parts! I'm happy to have found a company who products look very slick, and who take the time to respond to "average joe's" like me. As my collection grows, they will be getting more business from me, and I don't mind showing off my little set up to the more experienced collector buddies (these guys could probably do with a pallet full of racks for their collections!). Its nice to find a company and product where I can give positive feedback to, so here's me giving credit where credit is due.

Just bought an 8-rack with all the trimmings. If it works as good for me as everyone else, I'll be buying a few more for sure.
*UPDATE* Got the rack...I only ordered the one to see how I would like it and how it would fit in my safes. Well, I'll be ordering a couple of more, for sure. Very nice design, well made, pretty cool to be able to get 8 pistols AT ONCE out of the safe! Here's some pics of some of my pistols racked up...Ruger SRH .454 to Ruger LCP:

HKgunner88, The racks were not designed for high temperatures, but I can understand the desire to use them at the range, and many folks do use them for this.
The neoprene hanger coating melts at about 250 degrees F, 30+ degrees above the boiling point of water. The red caps are made of Low Density Polyethylene, which by coincidence, has a melting point of 248 degrees F. The temperature of your gun barrel is highly dependent on several factors, but it would be advised to let the gun cool prior to racking.
