Default Can anyone recommend comfortable shooting mats for the Appleseed event?

Looking for reasonably priced, comfortable commercial shooting mat for the two-day event. Would prefer not to spend more than $50, preferably less.

Go to a Army-Navy store and buy an Isomat. Probably about 8 bucks.

I got the Midway cheaper mat for $30. About the best deal for a real shooting mat.

If it's just for the Appleseed event, I would buy a cheap roll-up foam sleeping pad. If you're also going to be doing a fair amount of prone shooting in the future, I would suggest a real shooting mat from Midway.

Lots of good advice above. I used a large Harbor Freight moving blanket folded in half.

If you want a real shooting mat, midway has one on sale right now, and they ship fast:

For the event only the mat isn't all that important.there are some good suggestions above my post.

What I thought was more important than a mat was physical prep. Spend a decent amount of time prone with your rifle before the event. Also spend time getting into prone from a standing position and then getting back up. Unless you currently get up and down on the ground and shoot a lot from prone, physical prep will help a lot.

I won't be using it after the Appleseed unless involved in a shooting event of some kind. Not feasible at the ranges that I frequent, including Rainbow. So, it makes sense that I change and go with the less expensive alternatives, above.

Thanks!

I bought two foam camping mats at Walmart for around 12-15.00 each. Used them one on top of the other and never had a bit of dis comfort.
