Railed revolvers

Other then S&W what other manufacturers make railed revolvers? Im planning on purchasing a .357 and would like to attach a light since it will my handgun HD weapon.

Taurus might, but not 100% sure. I don't think Ruger does, at least not in production or it has to be special ordered - but I've never seen one. Alternatively you can get one of these adapters if they make one for your revolver.

Very bad idea bro. Not sure why S&W was stupid enough to make it. You stand a good chance of losing your finger while flipping on your light and shooting at the same time.

What's wrong with learning to use a hand held light? It gives you many more options for both revolvers and lights. I know its not what you asked for, but I'm just wondering. If you limit your search to just revolvers with rails, you are losing access to many fine revolvers (IE: K-frame Smiths).

If you are looking at Smith and Wesson it is probably the R8. Most of the time you wouldn't want to put your finger near the cylinder when firing because of the gases shooting out in the gap between the cylinder and the receiver can be quite nasty and probably injure you.

I have this S&W 327 TRR8 (8-shots .357), and I took this picture with the light just for the fun of it.

Like other folks mentioned, it is not that practical to maneuver the light switch of this setup in home defense situation. The switch is too close to the cylinder, Ouch!

I remember reading an article saying that S&W originally designed the revolver for the SWAT shield guy, to use one hand holding the shield and another hand for the revolver with the light. Here is the article link (http://www.policemag.com/channel/wea...-revolver.aspx)

And for the revolver itself, it is fun to shoot. The Performance Center trigger is crisp, and the revolver is very accuracy.

I'm with you. I've been looking at one of these for months as a great HD weapon for people who aren't comfortable with a semi auto.

If you're that worried about the cylinder gap attach a pressure switch to the light.

Good info here. I never thought of the cylinder gap, but the again I wouldnt be pressing the light switch and trigger at the same time. Anyway back to original question. I'm guessing S&W are the only ones that make it.

Gee I don't know, maybe you flip on the light and find the bag guy standed right in front of you and you pull the trigger. Down goes the bad guy and off goes your finger. You never want to turn on a light and leave it on to clear a house. You only use it in small quick bursts to check dark areas. I stand by my original statement, its a stupid idea.

i don't like rails on my semi-autos and wouldn't consider owning a railed revolver. hand-held flashlights work for me; personal preference.

I see your point in that scenario. I know the pistol was designed specifically for police entry duty, to remove any possibility of a SA slide failing from impacting a shield. Perhaps in these situations one would turn on a light and just leave it on during entry.
