If anything get this one even though it might be a little more. Exile needs the support!

I basically got exiles in stock notification one day after the outpost one. Maybe everyone is ordering from the same distributor? ~600 @ exile and ~700 at the other or maybe all the same batch?

Marlin opened the flood gates? About freakin' time! Geez.

Maybe we'll see the Marlin 795 LTR hit shelves soon!?!? Followed by overflowing bricks of 22lr

Grab A Gun scares me with a shipping glitch. Added 5 mags to the cart and: "Flat Rate Shipping Cost $361.60". What's up with that

I'm not tech savvy enough to know specifics for that but grabagun does behave strangely for me with IE. Displays and navigates better with Firefox. IDK, I ordered on my phone, no problems.

I've ordered from them before and they've always been GTG.

I'm sure it happened to someone before. Today I pulled the trigger, and heard a tiny click but nothing happened. I couldn't release the hammer. I dissembled it and saw that my trigger pin (one that is supposed hit the hammer lever to release the hammer) dodges the hammer lever to the side instead of hitting it. Then I saw the hammer is pushed all the way to the "#48 Right sideplate", To keep the trigger pin from dodging the hammer lever, I slid the hammer towards the "#47 left sideplate" trapping the trigger pin.
Here is a picture of what I mean by trigger pin dodging the hammer lever.

Hammer is pinning trigger pin to the sideplate.

Is this normal? Is there anything else I can do to keep the trigger pin from dodging?

EDIT: As it turns out, a hammer spacer is missing. Big5 said they will cover it 100% and will replace it with a brand new rifle.
Add: I would also like add that Marlin have great customer service. They were willing to send me a hammer spacer. No hassle and no charge, they didn't even ask me for proof of ownership or any sort of paperwork.

Any suggestions for a new stock for a Marlin Model 60? I'm 6' 2" and the stock on my gun is a little short. I want something that is made of the Model 60. Thx.

Default Storing Rimfire

I rented a small locker at my gun range. I have a Henry H004 and Marlin 60 in Jail.

The locker is just large enough to fit the rifles if they sit in the locker diagonally leaning against the back corner.

Will it damage the barrel to store this way.

It basically is same as if I left leaning against a wall.

I might try and build ramp, or something to hold them up if it's not good for rifles to store this way.

Thanks.

But the ban has passed and a veto is unlikely. Are you guys buying because you dont mind the registration and tax? Are the guns being dumped now by shops because they cant be sold after December?

Why the face? This is in my email just today from Calguns:

SB374 - Bans the future sale or transfer of and classifies ALL semi-automatic firearms with a detachable magazine or holding more than ten rounds of ammunition as "assault weapons." Continued legal possession requires that you REGISTER and pay a FEE (TAX) on ALL your semi-autos newly classified as “assault weapons.” And so far, from Calguns, nothing about rimfire exclusions in there, as you see.

My further reading of the bill shows that its intention is to include all rifles which have the ability to have a hi-cap magazine. Example, since the 10/22 has in the market the ability to use several types of mags, they would be included in the ban. Nowhere did i see anything about exclusion of rimfires. The 795 would be the same, according to such information.

Fine, i can be all wrong about this. But reading back in this very thread there was a comment from a user to the effect of "maybe I shouldnt buy a 795 because its going to be an assault weapon," and nobody said squat.

Based on the above, how were my questions not pertinent given the language in red? Says all, not some. Alright.

Read SB374 They crossed out rimfires so your 10/22 and Marlin 795 are safe for now. You'll see that rimfires are exempted from there. What you're talking about applies to semi auto centerfire rifles

Just jailed mine at Big 5 for $159. That is the lowest I have found in Northern California for a while. This has been on my want but don't really need list for a few years. What I really like about it is that I won't spend a ton of money on it like I would a Ruger 10/22.

Having a pair of 795's, I would rather have paid more for 10/22s. Marlin QC isn't what it used to be.

Going to break in the 795 later this week. Any hard and fast recommendations for me?

I am a bolt guy and don't know much about semi autos. Should I start with some of the heavier hotter loads to break it in or just more standard stuff?

I have some Cci std some of the higher velocity Winchester red slide box stuff and some bulk Winchester 36 gr hps

795s don't really need a break in period per say. What they need is a discovery period. That is where you discover if the rifle has any major flaws. For example both of mine had a pin in the trigger group that walked until it pinned the sear disconnect down and resulted in a dead trigger. I had to pull the pins, peen them, and replace them (and I wicked some thread lock in for good measure). I also found the extractor stops working about 200 rounds in from a thourough cleaning. I haven't dug too much into that, but it is most likely just a rough chamber combined with fouling on the extractor. All in all, the marlins aren't horrible if you can handle basic garbage the factory should have caught (or if you feel like dealing with the nightmare of rifle returns), but owning these Marlins made be a believer in Ruger...

Just clean the factory packing oil out of it.
Clean/oil parts as you would normally.
But then wipe them down till mostly dry.

A wet lubed 22 gives unburnt powder a place to stick.

Do not shoot hyper velocity out of a 795.
Standard and High velocity is fine.

Yup i break mine out of jail next week, can't wait.

So it seems using hyper velocity ammo is not recommended, I picked up some 22lr in anticipation of getting this gun but i think i might not be able use it. It's Winchester Super X 37grain JHP 1330fps, not sure if this is ok to use.

Picked mine up today. For 198.20 OTD I think it is a good buy. I bought it because it is simple, and most of all light weight. I put it in my sons hands tonight and it fit him perfect. I can see a lot more time at the range putting holes in paper.
