OREGON non resident, clackamas, washington, yamhill
why did i choose these 3 counties to inquiry? because they are close to portland and that is where I land my private jet.
Yamhill Clackamas and Washington County Oregon.. Status as of 11/27/2018 I will keep looking for counites where I can land my jet at, instead of driving my 1984 Pinto to closer counties near the california boarder.. FYI It's not as easy as we think! California seems easier.. Has anyone had luck with other counties besides Klamath or Lake? |

I went thru Lake County, Oregon. Look back around September 20th, 2018 for my post of the trip in this Non Resident CCW section.
Easy to walk in and without having an appointment/ check first with Heather the only Civil Division Deputy to make sure that she will be in the office when you want to apply. After I applied - I received my Oregon Non-Resident Concealed Handgun License in 36 days plus mail time... Costs $65.00, you get fingerprinted, and bring the required paperwork... link to the Lake County Sheriffs Office in Lakeview, Oregon home page. http://www.lakecountyor.org/government/sheriff.php Here is the link to the CHL application form... http://www.lakecountyor.org/lakecoun...n_Fillable.pdf

I did Klamath but I have heard good things about Lake.
You can land your jet at Klamath you just need to call ahead so they mow the runway and drive off the Moose.

in all seriousness, i can't the drive method because my wife would ask me why we are stopping at a police station.. as for Portland and surrounding counties? I visit here often and we always fly.. obviously not my jet, but it's more of a rental jet.. lol..
wonder what rules are for conceal carry while flying your private jet in a state you don't have permission too.. |

I thought this letter from the Sheriff in Jackson County was informative. Not great news for Californians, but he is honest.

I have a good friend in Amity (Yahmill) and started my search there. The immediate counties expressly stated they did not issue out of state. Polk County did not mention either way so I emailed them. They said they did with a letter from the Sheriff and wanted to know why I chose Polk County to apply. As I was typing my response I got an email from the Sheriff. I explained that my friend lived in Amity and that I travelled by car to and from Oregon several times a year for work with expensive propriety equip and that I also held a CA CCW. He sent me the letter I needed to apply.
I applied in person on Aug 23rd with some extremely nice people at the Sheriff's office in Dallas, OR. I received my 'CHL' yesterday Sept 9. I signed up for my Real ID 3 days before my Oregon CHL and still have not received it. Last edited by tonyxcom; 09-10-2019 at 5:00 PM.. |

I was asking if anyone has had any first hand experience in applying in Curry County, but thanks for the classic google search response. One can only assume they do not issue non resident permits when reviewing this document hence my request for some first hand information. Last edited by dgc357; 10-09-2019 at 7:41 AM.. |

That is why those of us up North go to Klamath (where you have to make an appointment months in advance), or do a walk in application in Lake (where I went see above), or Grant Counties for applying for your Non-Resident Oregon Concealed Handgun License.

That is why I drove an additional 100+ miles and went to Lakeview, Oregon - Lake County Sheriff's Office for a walk in application. In my post above from 11 months ago, I included the links for the Lake County Sheriff's Office CHL application.

"You have to come in to the office in order to renew your permit." "Why? It is a renewal" "Because we need to take another picture" "Can't I just send you a passport photo? After all, how much could a persons appearance change in 3 years?" "No" "When is the next appointment date?" "3 1/2 moths from now. Jan. 28, 2020" I feel that the renewal procedure is designed to discourage applicants. There is no way I am going to drive the 700 mile round trip to Klamath Co. OR in the middle of the winter just so they can take my picture. |

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...t=grant+county Grant County Oregon Staffer in route to Chino to take new apps or renewals July 10-17 I also agree that the Lake County Sheriff Office which is walk-in applications, is where to go to apply for your Oregon Non-Resident CHL. Lakeview, Oregon is only 140 miles to the East of Klamath Falls on Hwy 140 where it joins US 395. Yes - you do have to apply for CHL renewals in person in Lakeview every 4 years.

I did do some side trips around some of the area lakes and Bly, while going between the Lakeview and Klamath Falls last year... I looked at my paper trip records of the mileage and fuel used, and that was sort of close to the figure I had between fuel stops in the two towns.
Or I may have used the Hwy number (140) as the mileage when posting during a brain fart. edited to add - in post 19 above, I called the mileage 100+ miles, so it must have been a brain fart, or the onset of old timers disease... Like you said above, for California residents Lake County is much closer than Grant County, Oregon.

Spoke w/ Heather at Lake County - GTG
I just got off the phone with Heather from Lake County Sheriff (super helpful and friendly). Here's what I got:
- Drop-ins welcome, just call first to make sure Heather's there when you plan on coming. I guess she's the only person manning the station for this. - Bring in completed application (leave "continuous residency in Lake County for at least six months" question blank) https://www.lakecountyor.org/lakecou...n_Fillable.pdf - Fingerprinting hours TUE-FRI, 9-11AM, 1:30-4:30PM - Bring 2 forms of ID (ex. CDL, Passport, SSN Card - will not be taking any copy of SSN, just to show proof) - Training course cert or DD214 (she did not specify if there were any special courses required, just the form) - Personal check accepted or exact cash only ($65 Fee: $50 for fingerprinting and $15 for application/card) - Self-addressed stamped envelope to mail your license - renewal every 4-year, in person only I guess a quick road trip when the weather gets a bit better is on my radar. |

Yes - Heather is the only Civil Deputy at the Lake County Sheriff's Office, and she is very helpful! Be prepared to go upstairs to inside the jail to be fingerprinted. Since I do not have a US Passport, I had to bring my Certified Birth Certificate as proof of being a US Citizen. I had a choice of using my DD-214, NRA Pistol Training Course, or my every 2 year California CCW qualifying paperwork. Also she will ask if you want to keep your info private/ not public record - see page 4 of the application https://www.lakecountyor.org/lakecou...n_Fillable.pdf I would suggest that you keep your info private by marking R 11, R 12, R 13, R 14. I had caught a burglar 'in the act' at gunpoint in years past/ breaking into a vehicle parked inside a garage, and I've been a victim of Identity Theft with case numbers for both events. <<------------------------------------->> 1111 My personal safety or that of a family member residing with me may be compromised if my personal information is released pursuant to a Public Records request for one or more of the following reasons: R11_____ I or a family member have been a victim of a crime of domestic violence, burglary, assault or (specify)_________________________________________ _________________________________ R 12_____ I believe that release of my address may subject me and my family to the threat of a burglary for the purpose of stealing a handgun, thereby placing myself or my family in danger. A bunch of people I know use Wallowa County. The sheriff supposedly has no prob issuing nonres permits. You can fly into Joseph or Enterprise depending on the size of the not yours jet
