Default Winchester bulk pack 555

I have not had a lot of luck with Winchester 22's in my semi automatics, is this one any better than there other 22 variants?
Big 5 has them on sale starting Sunday.

I use mini mags exclusively. They will consistently cycle semi autos and provide sub MOA on a good target .22

Winchester 555 bulk pack has worked flawlessly in my 22’s.

Henry H001
Walther P22
Marlin 795

It is good to go.

Only one way to find out if your gun likes them or not.

I personally try to stay away from all winchester, but im also the person who buys the golden bullets, that everyone and their daughter complains about. They are excellent in every tool I have, even the most finicky pistols I have, p22 and mosquito. Cci always the best, everyone knows that. For general bulk federal all the way anything copper plated. It's still even cheaper to somethings buy online and put up with komifornias ffl transfer.

I stashed away a few boxes of 555 that were bought before the big 22 shortage---I found it to function perfectly thru three semi-auto rifles; a Ruger 10-22 (old Deluxe Sporter), my Nylon 66 and a very old Belgium made 22 Auto Take-down rifle. The accuracy from my Nylon 66 was really good...

I do not like Winchester bulk and a few other bulks like Golden Bullet, CCI minimag is my go-to.

Buy a revolver and a levergun if you do not have them!

I avoid Remington like the plague. If nothing else is on the shelf I'll buy Winchester or Aguila.

My favorite brands of .22 ammo are CCI and Federal.

I will run Federal and Winchester, simply because I do have a crap-load of them (especially the Federal Auto match), and while they're fine in my revolvers and lever action Henry, they won't run my semi-autos reliably. Especially my Ruger SR22, for whatever reason. I prefer to run either CCI MiniMags, CCI Blazer, or Remington Golden Boolitz. All of those work well in any of my 22's. Remington Thunderbolt is good too, but it is really dirty.

What is the price for the 555?

I mostly run Federal bulk. Have a few failures in semi autos. Never with CCI, both HPs and solid. I can feel the CCI is loaded hotter than Federal or Remington. But at $.038 a shot, I can put up with a few failures with Federal. I stick with CCI for hunting.

I have not had much luck with the Winchester in my semi autos. I like the Federal Champion blue box bulk pack for plinking, all else is exclusively CCI Mini Mags for hunting and CCI standard velocity for punching paper for groups.

Having said that, to be honest, if you have a few little hiccups here and there while plinking with some affordable ammo, does it really matter? The 555 packs really are not that bad. It may not be the best but it'll hit a can and so what if you have to rack the gun here and again. It's part of the rimfire fun to a certain extent.

34.99 for the box of 555 starting today Sunday the 10th.

Besides my semi autos I do have a Henry, old mossberg bolt action that was my grand fathers and I am in my late 60's and a Heritage rough rider, to cover all the bases.

I don't think I'll ever have to buy .22 ammunition again as my supply is more than ample but in today's market Big 5 selling those 555 round bulk packs for six and a quarter cents a round doesn't seem like such a deal.
I was in my local Walmart a couple of days ago and saw something that I have never seen there before. The WHOLE top shelf which is at least ten feet long was nothing but .22 ammunition and a lot of the prices were substantially lower than that Big 5 deal.

No bulk 22lr for me either unless it's CCI AR tactical. Otherwise it's Mini Mags or SV.

For anyone still following, I saw the Winchester 555 bulk packs for $27.88 at WM today.

$27.88 +tax is about $05.4 a shot. That’s ok. Also I see Walmart has Remington Thunderbolt 500rd bulk for 21.97. Palmetto has MiniMag HP on sale for $6.99 a 100rd pack, free shipping on ten packs.

Prices are slowly returning to somewhat normal. But stock up now while the shelves are full and the neckbeards are 😭

I have about 6K of CCI mini-mags where I paid $0.06-$0.065/rd. I also picked up a box (5K rounds) of Aguila for a bit less. The CCI are more reliable, but they both shoot well. Everything else I have has been problematic for me (in my Marlin 795, Sig Mosquito (uber-picky), and AR-7). My .22lr AR-15 eats everything.

Thumbs up

Winchester 555 good deal as far as my own semi autos are concerned.

Remington thunderbolt works fine in my HP22 and marlin 60, also was just fine in the MP 22. Also the golden bullet was a ok, but did have some low bang!

Wal-Mart has the Fed red box[550 ct.], 36gr copper plated for $19.97. A bunch of them. Works good in my 39A, 25N and CZ 452.

It's. 22LR it will work great in one gun and like poop in another gun. The next brand/type will do the same. That is one of the reason I love .22LR lever guns....they run everything.....as do revolvers....

Bought my share during the shortage. Worked fine in all my .22 pistols and rifles. Accuracy was underwhelming. Been stocking up on CCI Blazer .22 which is accurate in my guns.

i've bought exactly two boxes of that winchester, worked fine, but ammo is ugly and inconsistent (not that i care much, i use my .22 as mini bullet hoses)

for basically the same price, i'd rather buy any other bulk ammo, even thunderbolts that give me leading.

The Henry shoots anything. The AR-22 likes Federal Automatch. I bought a closet full last year online.

I have had zero luck when it comes to the winchester bulk packs. I tried winchester, Remington bulk packs, various types of american eagle and even an old box of federal classics.
what I did find that works well is Aguila super extra high velocity copper plated bullets.
My local range is selling then for 23 bucks for a 500 brick and so far My only complaint is that I have to clean my mags more often as the bullets have a wax coating on them.
