Default Separate the Socal and Norcal posts in marketplace

Would it be better if we have a separate Norcal and Socal marketplace? California is pretty big and I'm sure not many people would drive about 4-6 hours for a deal. Since most people do not ship, it would be a lot more convenient for the buyers and sellers. Most of the time when I find something I want, it happens to be in socal

It's been brought up in threads multiple times - probably not going to happen for various reasons I don't recall.

some people travel, some people ship
it'd be great if handguns was split by revolver and semi auto,
but alas, c'este la vie

I don't want it split, I will miss some guns I want if it is split as I likely would not search both forums. But I like road trips, I even look forward to a reason for some road trip food.

I like the idea esp with advanced searched you can search both sections at the same time for the people who will travel. But that does leave out the few very few sellers willing to ship. If youre willing to ship though then maybe they can allow you to post in both nor and so cal.

Default Why not do like Craigslist...allow posting to "multiple" areas?

So for those who either don't mind shipping to the other end of the state or who travel across the state, why not allow cross-posting to say one of 2 or 3 Marketplace sub-sections (North, Central, South)?

OR, at least allow sellers to input which area they are located in, and then allow buyers searching the Marketplace to narrow down their search to their particular geographic area (or say "X" number of miles from a particular ZIP code, or City name).

I myself waste half of my time looking through ads just to find those within a certain driving distance.....

No, the good deals are always in SoCal!

Yeah, seems like all that dot.com money and astronomical property appreciation in NoCal has blown the sense out of anything resembling a fairly priced marketplace....."whatever the market may bear..."

What about just ensuring the location is put in the title (like it's supposed to be)?

Default Doh! Good point....

Still, it would help making "searches" quicker, more efficient. "Browsing" (grazing) sometimes burns a lot of time I could be reloading

So, if we split handguns into "revolvers" and "semi autos" where would all the non revolver, non semi auto handguns go? I personally own many that don't fall into either category you suggested.

The only market place split that should be implemented is "Stuff that CSA is interested in" and "Stuff that CSA is not interested in". I don't care about location, type, etc. as much as I care about wasting my time looking through adds that I'm not interested in.

how about putting up a poll in the actual marketplace areas? People who probably think one way or the other may not even look at other boards except the marketplace and would like a say in the matter

I've been excited to see guns I've wanted, just to be disappointed they're all in San Diego lol. 8 hour drive no thanks.

What about off roster only marketplace?

A WTT forum would be nice as well. It seems like a good 25-30% of the ads have trade possibilities listed.

The reason is: Define the dividing line between Nor Cal and So Cal. Ask 100 different people, you'll get 100 different answers.

There are members here who think Bakersfield is in Nor Cal.

I thought about this long and hard as well.

Problem too is multiple cross-threads in different region forums where the seller borders other locations.

So the guy in Fresno could technically post a WTS thread in both theoretical SoCal and NorCal subforums.

So what about breaking the State into different regions? Socal, Central, NorCal, CA-1 Coast, Central Valley, Bay Area, Motherlode, etc.

Then it multiplies the cross-threading and that Fresno seller could technically post in Central Valley (originally) in addition to Socal, Norcal, CA-1 Coast, Bay Area... you get the idea.

The best solution is to write a descriptive post stating terms on meeting/travel, and being specific in keywords with what you have so potential buyers can search for it easily.
