I say score! That is a good-looking stock. Hopefully the crack is minor and can be easily fixed. Plus an almost all-matching rifle puts it over the top for a win. Thanks for all the great pics! Keep us posted after you get it cleaned it up.

Nice pickup once again Bobby. You seem to have a golden touch when it comes to picking out your SKSs.

its a russian?

is that the early bayonet lug and gas port

i heard somewhere that russia has ordered the disposition of their remaining sks inventory by the end of next year

are they ending up in former satelite warsaw countries and then imported as relics?

i hope bama don't find out

The stock has a long vertical crack along the side. I am planning to drop the guts into a spare wood stock I have.

Am I correct in thinking this is a Russian SKS? It has two cyrillic letters followed by four numbers. No Chinese factory stamp.

Yes, I had to check my reference book, but this rifle is definitely Russian. Not even a Sino-Soviet, just Russian. The non matching top cover is the only issue. I have not been able to read the number on the stock yet but the wood looks more Chinese than Russian.

I am seriously thinking about locating a nice red Russian stock and Tula top cover for this rifle.

Great luck on that Royal Tiger purchase. As mentioned before I've been reading from others scoring well with these latest batches...

Eventually ALL of the world's sks's ever produced will eventually end up being imported into the USA...

Nice to see that you haven't completely abandoned the sks for the Mauser/Garand Bobby.

NO WAY! The SKS has always been and will remain my #1 favorite milsurp rifle of all time. I have let a few go and started diversifying somewhat, but the SImonov is always the go-to fun shooter rifle for me. We take them out and go through that Wolf and Tula ammo like nobody's business. I will always keep at least 10-12 SKS in the harem my friend.

nice russian there - I wonder what happened to all those russian dust covers...

how does the bore look? I have heard reports of some of these with really nasty bores. Either way, still a steal for the price they sold for.

Yes it would be nice if it were all intact. Either way, I located a 1952 Tula stock and a 1952 Tula top cover so I am going to replace those parts and make it 100% Russian. Obviously the replacement parts won't match the rest of the rifle, but I can live with that.

How much will you be in for total? If it's well under $500.00 for a non-matching Russian, you will have done quite well as long as the bore is decent and you don't discover a lot pitting below the stock.

The parts weren't cheap, but I will be well under $400 total and it will be all Russian (but not all matching). I will know tonight on bore condition and any hidden pitting. I would have to replace the stock anyway and I will recoup a little by selling off the non matching Chinese top cover....

Bobby, I don't get mine until later today but I may take that stock off your hands. I bet it's better than what I will get...

The page says "C+R Required" Now is that for any purchases period, or just if you have one you need it to get it to your door? I dont really mind a cracked stock since you can get them fairly cheap on ebay anyways

You should be aware that not all SKS's will fit in all SKS stocks. I don't mean just the obvious oddballs like Albanians and Yugos. I have at least 4 Chinese stocks in my garage, and the cross bar on the stock did not line up with the receivers, even on Chinese receivers. I still haven't figured it out.

Hmm, I thought those were the only two you had to look for along with spiked/blade bayonets... Well even then for in the meantime id imagine a cracked stock would still live for a while since im not gonna be smashing stuff with it or putting any stress aside from the guns recoil and I dont think its enough to start splitting wood, 7.62x39 is pretty tame as it is. To me anyways

Also, How much was your shipping Bobby?

The crossbolt is in a different position on pinned barrels vs threaded barrels.

Later Chinese SKS' were pinned like an AK

Now I might just be talking crazy but what if they removed all the dust covers because that is the only real Russian marking that could trace it back to Russia. I think I saw another one on another board with miss match dust cover. but had all Russian markings. I`m wondering if this batch is truly Albanian conflict guns or did they get this some were else.

My $200 cracked special just got dropped off.
Haven't taken it apart yet but all external #'s match except for the bolt cover.
Letter & 4 digit = Sino Sovet. Happy about that!
Stock cracked and missing a piece, but from what I can see no rust and very nice bluing under all that cosmo...

Edit- bolt matches and the bolt cover is a 1950 Tula...

I just got done tearing the SKS down to start removing the cosmo. There is no rust or pitting anywhere. The bore looks good too, but there is still a lot of cosmo in it. The piston is correctly EP'd with matching numbers to the other parts. The bolt is also matching

The only issues I can see so far is that the safety is a little loose. It still functions fine in fire and safe but there isn't any tension in it. I will reevaluate it after cleaning because the trigger assembly is packed with cosmo.

The stock has a horizontal crack but looks very fixable.

The bayonet has a little bit of droop, but that is packed with cosmo too.

Otherwise everything looks great.

'52 and earlier Russians didn't have a spring on the safety. Relied on friction to stay in position.

You all are bullies! haha... My luck half of the stock wont be there, will be covered in rust, rifling wont be there, so lets see how this plays out haha

Btw, does anyone elses browsers look like that regularly?

Also, from the time it took to ship out to get to you guys, how long did it take? You bet im impatient!

EDIT: Maybe they'll give me a good one thinking its going out to a girl cause of my name. I think rockstar sent me a free shirt when i ordered GTA:V cause of my name hahah

My understanding is: these are sold as rifles with cracked stocks, but still functional. They should take care of you on this.

Yea I made the point they were stated as functional. It didn't have a cracked stock though so maybe they oversold of the cracked stock ones and started sending rifles with missing pieces. Either way, hoping they make it right.

Where do you see the order status? I ordered two and my credit card was charged, but I haven't received anything in email since the initial order confirmation. When I login to the web site, all I see is name, email and change password fields, but nothing about the order.
