So are .40s falling that far out of favor? Every time there's great deal, it's a .40 S&W,
Anyway, there's a used USP 40 in the LGS case for $373. Is there any reason not to buy it? It looks and feels alright, but I don't know what to specifically look for.
Yes, I already put $200 on it, I'm going back Tuesday to either pay it off or get my money back. They're closed Sunday and Monday.

Falling out of favor because of some recent studies that suggests the 9mm does things just as well with less recoil.

The USP was designed around the .40 and there are some great deals on 40's right now.

Ammo for the .40 will generally be more expensive compared to the 9.

I went the other direction and recently picked up a .45 usp.

Love it.

I guess the real question was, is a used USP something to watch out for?

Thatís a screaming deal, so long as you are ok with 40 cal. More and more LEAís are switching to 9mm and trading off their inventory of 40 cals to distributors on new 9mmís. The agency I do armorer work for just did a transition from gen 4 Glock 22 .40 cals to gen 5 9mm G17ís. All the pistols that didnít get purchased by officers were traded in to the distributor as credit towards the G5 17 bill. The 40ís will then be sold as leo trade ins by the distributor. That USP could very well be a leo trade in gun. Either way thatís a really good price. IMO, the only reason not to buy it is if you donít want a 40 caliber handgun.

Thanks. I don't have anything .40 Cal, but there's no hatred for them by me.

I think so. They are great pistols with high reliability and durability.

Some say they are overbuilt but I kinda like that.

Brought my M45A1 along with my .45 USP out yesterday for a little quality time. Group to the right of it represents two magazines (24 rounds) at 15 yards:

{the other two targets are from the Colt; two mags (14 rounds on the right and 7 on the left) all at the same 45 foot distance}

I just stumbled upon this post today. Looking through all of the pictures over the years, all I can say is WOW!! There are some very nice HK’s here! I’ve seen some really collectable, classic, cool, and modern HKs.

I have the HK itch now. I am actually in search of getting my first HK! The HK P30 v3 in 9mm...if anyone has one available

anything is possible...all you need is to save up. you'll be able to acquire the match .45 faster than the uber rare authentic 9mm match reason being for one the price difference and another would be rarity. it is almost impossible to acquire that 9mm here in cali. and plus the .45 match will look better with your USP 45s.

I certainly don't "hate" the 40 cal, but long ago settled on the 9mm as my medium cal defense pistol---plus my wife likes shooting the 9mm far more than the 40. For a larger cal, I went straight to the 'ol reliable 45 ACP... I love my various HKs---my most recent (several years now) is a mint P2000SK 9mm with the "Light LEM" trigger---perfect house pistol or packin' pistol...

HK VP9 in these three pics has Heinie Straight 8 Tactical Ledge silencer height sights, a Silencerco threaded barrel, a couple different Surefire X300s, and silicon carbide grip job.

With the CGS Pandora firing device (used as a dual channel mechanical detonator for explosive breaching) sitting on a First Spear plate carrier:

With Surefire Masterfire holster and CGS Kraken 9 silencer:

Compact to round the lineup out. Thinking of buying another USP fs and putting a weight on it as a cheap match clone.

Thank you my friend. Youíre one of the guys I share these pictures for. BTW, that full size HK45 tactical is one hell of a shooter. Itís the best shooter of the three for me comfort and ergonomics wise. The mk23 is the coolest of the 3, and the hk45ct (mk24 mod0) is a great shooter but the full size is even more comfortable IMO.

Solid choice in silencer. I'm from Santa Rosa, CA so that's why I'm on here. I moved to New Mexico at the end of 2014 to help start CGS.

HK VP9 Tactical with The Official Qube compensator by CGS Group and the Kraken 9 silencer in the background:
