I've used a handful of PPU calibers.. 7.62 tokarev is good... the rest of it is plinking grade IMO.

The PPU 6.5x55 Swede 140gr was pretty decent.

LOL @ you guys with all your scientific accuracy testing. I took a cue from all the Youtubers and just shoot as many rounds as I can as fast as possible into a dirt mound 20 yards away. I just assume the rifle to be accurate, but I don't have any intention of confirming it.

I shoot at rocks with steel core. That's ok to do, right?

I haven't shot any PPU Swiss, but I've done it through both my MAS' and they hit my 12" steel at 100yds easy

I'm with Bobby though. I don't shoot paper (unless it's my hunting rifle). If I'm hitting my gong, I'm happy. If it's shooting horrible, then I MIGHT print to see what's up and how to correct, otherwise, I just Kentucky Windage it off the splash and go for there... and I'll forget... so have to re-remember next shooting outing

I feel the fool for only having 1 K31. I have a big swiss rifle collection and I never bought more than 1 K31, what was I thinking? Passed on so many at Simpsons over the years. I knew they only made 500k and buying a $5000 gun for $300 was ridiculous. And I only got a few boxes of GP11.

Got to get an 1889 before that opportunity is gone too.

I think it's worth the investment to get proper ar500 steel plate that you can shoot for years. 30 cal at 100 yd is gonna poke holes in mild steel quickly. Once your surface is dented, you will not be able to predict ricochet projectory. Be safe out there.

My plate looks like Swiss cheese. It's quite the conversation starter

Gray ceramic dinner plates work just as well, as long as you don't actually hit them with gunfire.

Large bags of flower used in conjunction with prerecorded explosion sounds also make a great California compliant alternative to tannerite.

I heard that if you skip through the bushes in SoCal BLM while tossing wildflower seeds that you get a similar euphoria to that of firing high powered rifles. At least, this is what I heard on my last trip through Sacramento.

Don't get too excited, I was hoping for a walnut and was salivating over the pictures on reddit. This is what I got, I thought about sending it back but considering it was the first K31 and the hunt ive been on for one I thought i'd just suck it up. I'm assuming this "crack" is an arsenal repair?

Looks like a splice in which case you might actually have something cool. I don't know though, I'm no expert and I've only got one Swiss rifle that I still haven't even shot yet

http://forums.gunboards.com/showthre...e-Walnut-Stock

Also interesting if you look closely at the picture in the original ad it looks like the stock has a splice as well

I think you did well for the money

It's looking like they all come with slings. Gonna be bummed if I don't get one lol. I think the repair is cool. Wouldn't mind it.

I think your wood is in pretty decent shape. Didn't look all chewed up like the one guy from Reddit

It let me place my order on the 14th and now it says the order was "cancelled by customer" but the CC is still marked as pending so we shall see. I'm thinking I may have been caught up in the "glitch".

I saw your post, so went to check on my order. It also says "Customer Cancelled."

Guess I'll be making a phone call in the morning.

What year is it? How does the bore look? The metal looks like it's in good shape with some honest wear. I highly recommend the Swiss Products detachable scope mount https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog...roductId/17797and the Czechmauseritis cheek pad http://www.czechmauseritis.com/leath...1_2012_010.htm. The Swiss Products clamp on muzzle brake is really nice too http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/...roductId/17796. I have all three on my K31 and couldn't be happier.

It isn't that hard to go buy a K31 on an auction site or collector forum if you are looking for something specific. As much as I like AIM Surplus, the K31 they sent me had an ugly beaver chewed stock and offensively large billboard import mark right across the top of the receiver.

A few months later I bought a minty beech K31 with no import mark at all for about $300 shipped and I saw detailed pics before I agreed to the deal. A few months after that I got a Walnut stock K31 from a fellow Calguns member that was just as nice. No beaver chew, troop tag present, great bluing, and again no import marks.

When I received the rifle I was elated to find the seller included an extra factory original K31 magazine. The magazines cost $100 or more by themselves. A total steal.

I've shot some of the wolf gold 7.5 swiss, pretty sure it's the same as PPU, loaded on the NNY brass. It shot decently, but to anyone who says reloading can't match GP11... maybe you should try reloading for it. My reloads beat out gp11 every time. Not that gp11 is bad ammo, it's fantastic stuff, but reloading gives you the edge of tuning to your rifle. 4350 or RL17 with a 175 SMK is just deadly, and cheaper than gp11.

Yes the wolf gold is just repackaged PPU. It says on the box Made in Serbia & "nny" in Cyrilic is PPU

I emailed PPU about 7.5 Swiss ammo availability and received this reply...

"Thanks for your interest in PPU products.

The 7.5 Swiss FMJ is currently on the water. It will be available for purchase in the first week of May.

The 7.5 Swiss is produced only once a year".

Didn't know that they only do one batch a year.

But if you plan to reload using ppu brass, you probably can reuse it for at least 10-15 times. I saw no need to trim and headspace looks good on after 5 reloads. On bolt guns, unless you run hot loads, brass is extremely durable.

Yes they do things in batches (makes sense, they can only make so many different calibers at one time).
You can see it happen if you are looking. I was looking for 7.5 French last year and nobody had it. Then one week everybody got the PPU stuff in stock, then it dried up again.

RVR350 is bang on with the PPU brass. That stuff is tough! I load a tad on the hotter side (48gr RL17) and I still get 7-8 loadings on it before I need to put in the recycling bucket. Besides it being durable, I find it pretty darn consistent and the primer pockets stay tight too.

Like it was mentioned before, if you're going to reload for surplus rifle... the k31 is the one you want to do it for. PPU brass can be had at .50/piece when it's available. The only other option is norma, at twice the cost.

So, I called Gander Mountain and they said that, "Yes, the order was canceled" but there was no reason listed. The sales rep I talked to said it was a mess selling the K31s as the sales reps were selling the same rifles at the same time, so they ran out before they stopped selling. Thus, they had to cancel some of the orders. It would have been nice if they had let me know, but he also said their email system is having "issues."

Anyway, while I was talking to him, he noticed that there was one left in inventory and asked if I wanted it. I said, "Sure!" so they are sending that one to my FFL.

Now that I think about it, that one could have been a return... Hope it's in decent shape.

I just went to fedex to pick mine up. I must be the only person who didn't get a sling lol. Came with a buckle and no sling.

I was hoping for walnut and got beech. Not that that great shape either.

At least I got a troop tag. lol.

Bore looks good so no complaints there

PPU might not be the most accurate ammo out of the box, but the brass is good for reloading. It's usually cheaper buying a box of PPU and re-using the brass, than buying a lot of any obscure caliber's brass.

That condition is typical for the stock on these rifles. That is a fairly late (1955) model. Bet it is a great shooter.

Guess we all use our rifles for different purposes. My sons and I shoot in a monthly vintage military rifle silhouette match (220 to 550 yards) where there is a premium on accuracy. Since FMJ can't be used on the silhouettes, that leaves handloads or Hornady match ammo .

Enfield47,
