Default Another moron attached to a gun

Shooting at a tree at 4:30am? WTF, do you think this moron was drinking? Too bad for the local residents he survived.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow...002913032.html

Using a tree for target practice sounds harmless enough, right? That wasn't the case for an Iowa man who is recovering at a hospital after the tree he aimed his gun at fired back.

An Iowa man is expected to survive but will have one heck of a story to tell after he fired his pistol at a tree only to have the shot ricochet and impact upon himself.
27-year-old Logan Bunn transported himself to a nearby hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened at about 4:30am on Sunday morning

didnt read the story... I have seen a 45 HP, mushroom and form a nice back stop to allow the next one to bounce right back at the shooter.

That is classic. Now should he have a gun to begin with?

So what kind of gun would you recommend for trees?

Maybe some old milsurp then he could spruce it up?

Maybe the tree had one of those evil black rifles with the "clip" thing that holds massive amounts of boom boom ammo, and one of those "shoulder things" that goes up!

He was just defending himself when the ricochet happened.

The tree is now wanted for questioning!

Why is he a moron... a moron would be shooting at steel and not a soft target. Bad cascade of events but I wouldn't label the guy a moron.

Moron? I'd wager shooting a tree is safer from a ricochet standpoint than the AR500 steel I shoot at regularly. That sounds like extremely unlikely dumb luck.

Competition shooting matches run steel targets all the time, but not at 0430 hours in the DARK MORNING. And who knows what the background was? Homes, livestock,

Assault trees are live on the outside but their cores are black and dead. Huge branches snap w/o notice (suppressed) and kill / paralyze the unwary.

The tree had a CCW and fired back. CCW's are important for all trees and human alike!

I've seen 230grn. 45acp bounce off bowling pins straight back to the shooter.

I think he was watching wanted and was trying to get the bullet to curve around the tree, but he ended up curving it so much it made a u-turn.

I once had a .22 ricochet off a bowling pin. It flew right over my head making a buzzing sound. At first I thought it was a bee that just buzzed by.
