Michael is doing good. First bout was tough and he has rebounded. Second bout of chemo starts Monday. I've offered to shave my head in solidarity...but family says my bald mug is too-ugly to deal with

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!

Chemo round two complete. MRI today shows remission of Michael's brain tumors! Praise God for answering all the prayers that family and friends have offered for Michael.

A bit of a hiccup, looks like Mike has some sort of infection, so he is in hospital for a few days on IV anti-biotics for the Doc's to keep an eye on him.

Please pray for continued healing and that he'll get better asap! He still has two more chemos and 30 days straight whole ventricle radiation to complete.

The hardest thing with cancer/chemo is you know what has to happen, but there are all these road bumps that just keep surprising you and slow you down from getting there.

I had a good friend that I watched go through this with his little boy. It breaks my heart when something so voodoo, so wicked like this comes out of thin air and just invades someone, especially a child. May God be with you and my prayers are with you every day.

So sorry that your son and family are going through this!
I pray that God will heal your son and give your family the strength to walk through these trials!

Please keep us updated on his condition. And anything we/I can do....just say the word. Is there an address to where cards, letters, toys, etc. can be sent so the little guy has something to look forward to (besides the "great" side effects of chemo)....I think knowing there are those that are out there that truly care and have hope/love in their hearts can strengthen the mind (which, in turn, can have positive physical results....plus what kid isn't thrilled to get a new toy "unexpectedly"?).

Let us know, brother. We're here for the boy, you, and the whole family.

Peace,

-SS

Will put Michael in my prayers. I had neck cancer. Five chemo txs and 39 radiation txs. Prior to starting tx I asked the Doc to put the portacath on the left so I could still shoot the rifle and shotgun!

We CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Thank you calgunners for all of your thoughts and prayers!

Praise God that Michael's last MRI shows no signs of tumors! Michael is regaining some of his lost peripheral vision. We just finished 4 weeks straight of radiation therapy and he is enrolled in school.

While we are complete with the treatment, there will be close monitoring of his situation in the following months, and praying that he can return to normalcy. His hair is even growing back!

As I read your post, I thought about my grown son and his 3 year old son.
The doctors, your son and family will do your part. We will do ours, our prayers are with your son family and you Sir. May God bless.

Great news! I'm glad he's recovering.

I had a brain tumor removed in 1997, in my right parietal lobe. I was tired for over a year, my strength and endurance was earned, and comes back slowly. For me it was a humbling experience, and it made me realize what was really important in life. My family, friends and sharing good times!

Congrats on your recovery! Mike is going through the same thing.

He had a 4 mm tumor in the hypothalamus and 1 mm in the optic nerve. The great news is his peripheral vision is slowly coming back! The hypothalamus is so sensitive that it will most likely never heal, so probably meds to make up the hormone function.
