Default Red Dot

I would rather have a cosmetically beat to crap, but well functioning used Aimpoint M2 than any new Vortex Sparc II, Holosun, etc etc. and pay more than the new aforementioned.

Aimpoint M2 appears discontinue.

At $500, I wouldn't put it in value category.

I just received a Bushnell TRS 25 to test. It has received good reviews. And is in the value category at around $85.

So far, it has the diode visible in the right lower field of view. Which I would rather not be there. Dot is laser clear, no cloudiness anywhere as noted above.

And it goes to 11. Nigel Tuffnell, would be proud.

Buy once, cry once. Get an aimpoint and never look back. Out of any and all optic companies that make red dots Aimpoint is the one you hear the least about problems and/or failures. If you're not willing to put the $ towards a quality product then just use your iron sights, otherwise you'll be disappointed when the other one fails and you just gotta get an Aimpoint anyway.

Discontinued means that they can't be sold on the used market? News to me. Beat yet functioning M2s can be in the $250-350 range. That is big value TO ME. "Value" is subjective. If "value" means made in china (thereby cheaply made), then yes, the TRS is a good value purchase. If "value" means a well made, functioning sight from a reputable company with little chance the sight will cease functioning, then the TRS is definitely not a value purchase. My definition of value is the latter.
