Agree that the deals haven't been there. Gun stores have been dropping like flies in Sacramento. We've lost about half of our gun shops and part-time FFLs in the last two years. Business must not be too good.

I just picked up that Browning .22 for $250 OTD after rebate, that seems like a good deal. But I agree, there have been fewer good deals lately.

Let's be honest, being in CA hasn't made being a LGS or FFL easy or lucrative. Business isn't bad for the industry everywhere else.

Wait til after shotshow or around tax time. When you can build an ar now for under 500 bucks it says alot about the ar market.

Been like that since last year, seemed to have replaced the deals with all those BS giveaway threads.

I'm glad there is a lull. I have the feeling my wallet is going to get drained again after SHOT Show.

It's a racket I'm telling you...

It's always very slow this time of year. With the new laws incorporated in CA the past several years, it's not surprising. Ammo prices have fallen to ... pre-Sandy levels???... and every Tom, Dick, and Harry box stores/internet stores stuffed with ammo, the only items that are moving are the ones with rebates, and even those aren't doing that well after the initial sell off, as the vendors decided to get the rebates for themselves by removing the items from sales. Using the rebates now will only bring the prices down to the sales level of a few months ago. Since the rebates go on for another nearly 3 months, wait a month or two till the stocks replenish. I think the ammo sales will be back while the rebates are in effect.

Things always pick up during the Shot Show with vendors giving out coupons in addition to the online "Shot Show" sales. Show dates are 1/22 thru 1/26. I was hoping Santa gave me tickets or at least a way into the show, but, ........... no luck.

We need another BOGO sale with free shipping and no tax like we had a month ago, to wake things up again and get things moving again. I know, I'm probably dreaming, but bleep, that was one bleep of a sale.

If you want some pretty solid advice, start building low to moderate priced AR-15 right now. Build five or six of them and keep them in the safe until election time 2020. I bet you could probably double your money if you bought a bunch of ARS. If nothing else start stocking up on AR-15 uppers, lower parts kits, bolt carrier groups, and more

At a local level, there seems to be an uptick in politically motivated buying (Newsome) but not like in the Obama days. Our firearm Political climate is poor at best.
Rant...
Also, lets see, how many threads are out there talking about how somebody can save $25 by ordering a firearm on line, then complain that the FFL won't do it for free/cheap enough. The FFL you needs need to be able to make a reasonable living.
Yes, I do pay more to support my local FFLs.

I'm so glad there is a lull. In the last 30-40 days I've spent way more than I should have. But I've got 5 new firearms and cool accessories, so I got that going for me.

It'd be cool if an FFL you're friendly with could "sponsor" you.

It looks like a company email address is good enough for verification. They could set one up for you just to use for SHOT Show.

You'd pay your own way, of course... but maybe you could wear a company shirt to advertise the shop or something while you're there as well?

I thought the deals from Nov-Dec sucked compared to past years. I attribute it to the economy... do retailers really need to drop prices and offer those deals when business is booming?

Wait for a Dem president to be elected again... the deals will come back

Sure, prices will be back up where they were during the Osama reign. Then they will have great deals, 30-40% off. Of course they will be 10-20% more than they can be had for now.

But I think the California Statewide Glock January Half Price Sale will be... O wait, that was cancelled because of the plastic receiver scandal.

Even though I ended up getting some good deals on Black Friday I thought the deals were much better last year. Also, I noticed that on Black Friday 2017 the lines went around the entire parking lot at the Pasadena Turner's and were like that for hours after the store opened. This past black Friday 30 minutes after the doors opened there was no line.

Last year the year started off with a bang. Many good deals in January but I haven't seen many this January. In a way it's a relief since I definitely went over what I had planned to spend on Black Friday and the Christmas countdown.

I think that people have figured out that the selection, prices, and staff at Turner's all are generally subpar.

all the gun industry is preparing for shot show next week.

usually this is a dead time of deals until shot show starts and right after shot show.

i'm sure there will be a few % off coupon codes that someone will post up here that are one time use that they grabbed from a flyer at Shot Show.

I always see so much trash talk on Turner's but I've never had a bad experience with their staff. For ten years now they've been helpful and professional. Everything else is either standard or subpar, like any bloated corporation can be.

I thought the same in general with some specific deals out there on items being discontued.

But it seems it general supply - demand ebb and flow. We are also seeing general production cut back and the excess inventory having bled off in prior months offering less incentives thru distributors with the exception of those discontinued items

What struck me is how obvious it is in the ammo market. 9mm and .22 seem to be the only stable place right now. 45 and 223/556 is generally up and the rebates are there but not as frequent. You really have to hunt for some prices. Looks to be 10 to 15% increased in normal sell prices. Think last year after rebates you could do 223 @ .16 to 18 cpr all day long, now .21 to .25 is suppose to look good.

I left CA 15K rounds of 223 and sold half that when I got here. Wish I hadnt now.

last year, the prices were low cause they were trying to offload excess inventory from fears of a clinton presidency.

the prices are, are pretty much the same as during the last two years of obama's term.

i mean i don't really expect prices to get much lower regularly. there might be sales here and there, but also remember that when 2020 rolls around and the campaigning starts again for presidency, prices may rise as nation-wide a panic buy starts again.

I'd be a lot more worried about that wild-eyed gun-grabbing lib nut Newsom than 2020.
