I predict they will be the first of many to close. I am done buying guns in this state. I have what I want for now. After January 2018, I won't be buying ammo anymore until retirement in a free state. That will be about 6-7 years. I can't see visiting a gun store except for cleaning supplies. Some of my friends also consolidated calibers to stock up on ammo too. It is going to be tough for a traditional gun store. Some of the larger and modern indoor ranges should do well though.

Oh bummer, that was my favorite place....to go and laugh at how bad the atmosphere was in there....even though that place really sucked, it's never a good thing when we lose gun stores.
I wonder if American Shooting is moving there since they said that they were relocating to East County?

F*** yes!

I hated that place with a passion. Although their gunsmith was pretty good I couldn't stand their piss poor attitude towards people.

I didn't like the attitude I was given there, but never like to see a gun shop close.
As gun owners we also contribute to the closures by shopping on the internet. The only thing I would buy in a local shop is a gun.

Could that be where American Shooting Center is moving too?

Glad that place is gone. No business being in the gun business.

They did some shady stuff in the gunsmith section for sure

As far as I know, the gun smith was a separate business (Clothey and Son's) and they moved to Santee sometime ago. I don't know about the shady stuff.

They did a trigger job on a S&W revolver for me and it works perfect.

Last time I went there (2015) I was approached by a shady looking character that put out his hand and introduced himself as "Billy from the local chapter of the Aryan Brotherhood". His tattoos looked prison quality, but he seemed like a Nice enough fella. Told me if I ever needed anything, just ask around for him, he likes helping out fellow white folk. Needless to say I felt very out of place, and I live in Eastbound county. On my way out the door I heard the cashier saying something to the customer checking out that he should "buy all the ammo now before The Maazloom (Muslim) In Chief bans The 2nd amendment."

They were over priced and complete *****hole$. Good riddance!

Went there once about six years ago, maybe more and never went back. As others have said, it's not a surprise but always sucks losing a gunstore.

Ha ha, never saw that guy, just some grumpy older man. The one and only time I was in there I asked to see a handgun they had in the LEO only section because there was a similar gun for sale here on CG. They told me I could not even touch it because it was off roster and LEO only.

Okie dokie. Cya.

Sounds like good customer service to me. It's a wonder that it took that long for them to fold.

Default Trouble with EGE

I was researching the range for sale in Alpine, and digging around for permitting issues and found this lawsuit against El Cajon Gun Exchange. Maybe this has to do with why they closed.

Good riddance. They were terrible at customer service. I don’t care if it’s guns or widgets that you sell, you treat customers with respect. They may be great gun guys, but crappy salesmen. They also had the worst web site. I know they wouldn’t last the first time I went in there. There are plenty of other stores that have gotten and continue to get my business. P2K, Discount Gun Mart to name two.

Why bump this. It's like being rapped in the nuts just when they felt better.

They are gone. Enjoy it quietly.

Default Gun Store

You guys are welcome to come by TPM. I don't know if its ok to post this kind of stuff on here. Let me know.

We are a 20+ year machine shop. We are also a FFL and manufacture AR-15 rifles, including parts. We have a small front end where you can purchase complete rifles, lowers, complete uppers, barrels, triggers and associated parts. We also gunsmith AR rifles. We don't do anything with other types of firearms.

Anyway, you guys are welcome anytime.

They were awesome back in the 1980's when they first opened.
I spent a lot of time there talking to Norm and some of the other guys.
Got quite a few great deals too!

Bought an S&W 686 for $299.00.
I few years later I was back to see about selling it to buy an engagement ring.

Norm looked me straight in the eyes and told me to keep the gun.
it would be a better investment in the long run.
